so I guess you'll be running "Dead Man's Pass" then? That's one mountain I'd like to tackle. I did Grapevine and Cabbage Hill at USA....with only 10k, though....but still did them! This morning I got to do Black Mountain in REALLY THICK FOG! That was kinda scary/neat....but then again, I only had 22k and it was 4am...nobody around! Wondered why those flashing lights were going crazy? lol j/k

lol well welcome to our world sidepocket.....soon as you say something on here the exact opposite will happen......generally the bad side of whatever it was you said

and just for the record, don't be one of the 'special' ones........call yourself lucky.

the 'special' ones in this company have earned a 'special' place in the company for all the wrong reasons

so I roll onto the yard last night at 0106.

whoever the specific individual was at DOT that initially proposed this 1am-5am ######## should have their nuts cut off with a dull blade and shoved down their ####### throat......slowly....... until they choke on them. do the math and we find that if I wanted to get a "34 hour" reset, now I have to sit until 5am Tuesday, which is 52 ####### hours from the time I hit the yard. are you ####### kidding me? 52 ####### hours for a reset? over 6 minutes? really? that's just beyond ludicrous.

not that it really matters. this load delivers by noon Monday.

oh wait, it does in fact matter. under the old rules I could have JUST snuck in a reset and delivered on time.

yeah yeah yeah I know......all in the name of 'safety'.......right. go tell the bs to someone that actually believes it. be flexible and adapt. sure thing.....except that I tend to lose most of my flexibility when I have to deal with such utterly blatant incompetence, ignorance and stupidity by people who make the rules we have to operate under and that so directly affects my earning potential.

fortunately, I carry hours over into next week and gain enough each day until Friday that I should be okay but I won't have full hours to run every day.....just some of them

well....like I was telling you, Flying...."supposedly" Nov. there's suppose to be a vote, in Congress, to Appeal the new HOS! Let's hope it happens! Boy did Curt screw me today! haha Gave me a load that picks up at 1300 on Tuesday for a 0730 Weds. delivery...IN PARAMUS! That place is almost IMPOSSIBLE TO STAY THE NIGHT AT! Guess I'll hafta call DM tomorrow and get something else! It'll take ALL 11 just to get through DC AND Baltimore. Plus, last time I did the "milk run" there was 2 of our other guys there...only enough room for 1 truck to park overnight, much less pull into the docks! That's a tight store!

You know, the real ##### of it is that I COULD have gotten in before 0100 Sunday. Barely. I could have made up enough time on the 350 I ran Saturday night to have gotten in around 1250-1255 or so.......but that it was pouring down rain and I wasn't going to compromise safety and drive like an idiot. I chose to slow down and adjust my speed for the conditions and rightfully so because there was a lot of standing water, especially once I got closer to Greensboro. Even though I knew the implications of slowing down for my log and reset.

Now THAT was a decision that affected safety and that was done in the name of safety. Both mine and those on the road around me.

Not some bs rule that penalized me because I got in at the 'wrong' time of day and that has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with control.
