Yes I did, that was back in April of 2012. The guy came out drunk as a skunk, and was using a rock to break into his truck. I asked if he needed help and he said he would get it and he needed to get to his delivery.... so I called the local authorities to at least help him NOT break his own window. I did what i felt was right, and don't feel bad about it at all. If he had jumped into his truck and decided to drive, I would have felt terrible and it would have been to late to stop him from poss making a terrible mistake. I did what i did, and that's all.
As far as this CRST driver goes, I would have spoke to him as well. Depending on his attitude about the load would have determined what I would have done. i was not there for this situation, so i can't judge.
And I highly doubt your load was hanging so low that it was dragging the ground when you pulled out and your tail lights were not visible. You are more professional than that i believe.
I have never proclaimed to be an expert at this job. But common sense is something I am pretty good at, and common sense would tell you that this was a bad idea all around.
I was raised in trucking, by 2 generations of truckers, of which 1 of them started in 1934 and drove till he retired in 1988. I was rasied properly and know how to help someone out. I help people all the time, and try to help drivers as much as I can. And you can even ask Cluck, every driver I walk past in a parking lot I say "hello" too and 99% of the time they just look at the ground or phone and keep walking. I have my gripes as well, but it is what it is....
I Wouldn't Haul This....

I still wonder where the guy is going with that flat steel, since he hasn't left , must be the place close by.
and u would be surprised sometimes how little it takes to stop a low boy from moving hint , a 12 inch piece of 2x4 used to raise up an outside left, left on the concrete that wedged against a crack in the concrete. stopped it dead. 1988 or so at the old truckstop on exit 9, Princeton wv I-77 -
