Quick Entry:
I applied with Swift Transportation Online. A recruiter called me 10 minutes after I was done with the application!!! Talk about quick action!! Here's what she told me:
Must attend Safety Orientation for 3 days in Gary, Indiana (45 minutes away from home).
Must pass physical test & drug test (I'm 195lb 6'3 and drug-free)
Must complete 240 hours of training in a time frame of 4-6 weeks.
$475-$500 a week during training.
Lunch, hotel, and lodging are provided.
I just finished signing release forms and I have to call back tomorrow at 4pm.
Now I'm sitting here brainstorming additional question to ask her tomorrow. If you guys can give me your input I would appreciate it!!
PS
Keep in mind guys I already have my CDL Class A. The hard part of getting my CDL is done. I feel like telling them.. "Let's make it $550 a week and my soul is yours!!"
I just want to dedicate the next 8-10 years trucking, save up money, and start my real estate venture (Monopoly Money) but that's another story =D -
Sweeeet... Grazie tmowry1!!

ask your recruiter to put you in flatbed division. They train you there in fort wayne, in. They pay extra cpm and tarp pay as well. Also, you will most likely have weekends off doing flatbed because businesses usually do flatbed deliveries m-f 8am-6pmMarkSno Thanks this.

No Problem! But be sure to look at the Swift threads also. They tend to have the same reputation as CR England if not worse! There are thousands of companies out there who would love to hire you, be patient in finding the one right for you. It may not be the one with the highest starting wages or the shortest training period, but in the end you will be glad you waited it out and found the right one. There are many horror stories out there, and many people who will whine about their company simply because they dont get their own way all the time. Just use your judgement, I did hours upon hours of research before I chose the company I though fit me best and haven't regretted my decision yet. Best of luck to you!
MarkSno Thanks this. -
DV8 So they pay extra cpm and tarp ON TOP of the $475-$500 a week? or no? Weekends off sounds good to me!!

You get the TARP pay after once you go solo. I'm doing this only because I asked. They (recruiters) won't just hand this kind of information out unless you ask. Yeah, being flatbed, you get the bonus of getting your miles PLUS having weekends off. Tarp pay is $30/per load and tarp 2-3 loads a week. An extra $120 a week (potentially). Maybe I'll see ya at orientation.MarkSno Thanks this.

It's all about research! I have a lot of due diligence to do before I reasonably decide which company to work for. Again, Thank you so much for looking out!! God Bless

I'll be sure to mention this to her tomorrow for sure! More money is always good. Do you plan on attending orientation this Monday, August 26 out in Gary, Indiana?? -
No, I start CDL training on Aug 26 in Millington, TN. I just made sure I have FLATBED ob my file and was told I would do my final week in Gary, IN.
