Well today kicked my butt. Delivered first thing this morning, waited 30 minutes, and I had my next preplan. I picked up 2 coils in Fontana going to Colorado Springs for Friday. Securement only took an hour at most, but the tarping was hell...literally. This place required long sleeve shirts, pants, etc and it was 100 out. Good thing I'd decided to pack any long sleeve shirts in August, not. The only thing I had was a hoodie and the only tarps I had were lumber tarps. Took me about 3-4 hours with all the breaks for water and air conditioning and getting that excess tarp tied down. It may not be the prettiest tarp job, but it's effective and doesn't move much. It also hasn't hurt my fuel mileage. Idling tonight will because it's 99 right now in Moapa, NV.

Staring down the barrel of a 3k week if I get a good run over the weekend.

Yup... Not a job for sissy's mate. Good your rolling. Once you get on quads you won't do many coils.

I only did about 6 coils loads in a year. And those were Eye to the sky coils on skids. Super easy.

Oh, well then that is easy, even if they have to be tarped. These are loaded suicide with one over the drives and one over the trailer.

Sitting at the top of Vail, will deliver in Colorado Springs in the morning. Had a couple of lights go out, but it was do to a pinched wire. Got it fixed in Parowan, UT and got my union mandated break out of the way at the same time. Sticking it to the man.

Ayuh. It was a real treat. The guys in the check-in saw the sweat coming through my sweatshirt and said that I could take it off because they were getting worried. Lol, I was just adhering to your policy.

Well, I'm stuck at the top of Vail with a air dryer that needs to be replaced. Was doing my pre trip and air was pouring out of the bottom of it, wouldn't build pressure much higher than 70 psi. Already notified dispatch that I won't be able to deliver on time and they said they will work on getting a delivery later tonight or tomorrow morning. As for me, I'm stuck for the next few hours. Nice.

Edit: Receiver won't take it until Monday morning, so I'll be in Fountain, CO for the weekend. Oh well, #### happens. I'll be getting $100/day for breakdown and another $100 orientation pay installment so I'll still gross over $1k even if I don't get another short run before Tuesday cutoff. That's one reason I like the orientation pay structure. You get $200 immediately upon completion of orientation and then $100/week for the next 3 weeks for a grand total of $500. In this case it is helping salvage what was going to be a good week that went south. It also makes up for a possible loss of income while learning the ropes for the first few weeks.

Delivered the coils this morning and picked up a load of concrete ties in Pueblo going to Sacramento for Wednesday. I'm scheduled for home time this Friday so it'll be interesting to see how they'll run me until then.

US50 from I-25 to I-70 is one heck of a drive. Very fun and very scenic. I was excited to go over Donner for the first time but going over Monarch was a treat. Heck, the entire drive was a treat. Except for those sudden speed limit changes with no warning. Those are not a treat.
