Editorial: Iowa needs helmet law now

Yes there are going to be accidents.....and yes people are going to die.


Do I agree that anybody should be able to tell me I have to wear a helmet? No.

I live in Iowa, and I'm glad there is no helmet law.


If I run my hog on interstates, I willingly wear my helmet.....but I don't need "the law" and/or people whom never even sat on a bike to tell me I have to.
When cruise'n around on secondary roads and in the country-side, I let the wind flow through my hair (helmet free), and love the freedom.

My point? People that have nothing better to do than sit around and think of more laws to stiffle the "free world", can go suck an egg----mind your own business and leave me alone! Affraid someone might be having fun without you?

 

I do not wear a helmet. Well if it rains I have a full face I wear.
Iowa tried a helmet law once only lasted a year if I remember right. A lot of those in office that voted that law in found themselves on the outside looking in the next election.
There are a lot of thoughts either way on for or against. The most important part of the motorcyle rider is his brain and how well he can use it in each situation.
A piece of plastic strapped to thier head doesn't make them a better rider

 

i resent anyone taking away my choices under the guise of safety. i would be willing to bet most of the endorsers of this law don't ride and are happy to vote on anything that does not limit their choices. in other words leave me alone.

 

I do not believe in helmet laws, or seat belt laws for that matter. I do wear my seatbelt and probalby would even if it was not the law, but I feel it should be my choice. The only reason for a seatbelt law is for the government to make money.

We all know the consequences of our actions and are adults and should be able to make informed decisions on our own. We do not need these laws telling us what to do. The only thing these laws do, is mess with the natural selection process. If people are dumb enough not to take safety into their own hands then the natural selection process should take them out!! Nature is not being allowed to weed out the idiots and they just keep breeding. Now that is what is wrong with the world today.
