yeah its not smart some of these people who just jump into wanting their own truck with no experience

I still havent made the move to leasing or owning myself, I am not quite ready and im trying to learn everything I can BEFORE jumping into hell.

If this plan was remotely feasible, don't you think lots of drivers would be leasing trucks and driving under their own authority?

The ignorance. How many of you really have a truck or run one of your own? If you do why so Ignorant to this guy. Hes asking for advice and you say hes an idiot. Who the hell is hauling freight at 1.30 per mile? I am a business owner I never haul anything less then 1.80 and now I won't even think of that. Anything less then 2.10 you just turn dollars. How about helping out someone instead of being dicks. Also quit hauling cheap freight and that rental price would be the sable. Start bidding all your contract 3 dollars all miles then you wont be getting screwed to be drivers anymore. Leta make the trucking industry great again

Yes the thread is a bit stale, but I did read it before I took my treatment and during said treatment I thought about it, and I have a question for anybody willing to take it on. What sets renting apart from buying and having payments to make? This may not be the right forum to post this I know. If you can rent most times the rental agency is going to do the PMs and other work maybe even cheaper then you can do it at a TA. Also every few years they will replace the tractor. I am not a tax expert but I also wonder if these rental costs are deductable business costs? I just wonder what the rental costs are in relation to truck payments?

If your making that commitment and if you have enough collateral. Why not get a looan from a bank and buy a truck outright. The amount you will spend in the long run to rent will far out weigh the cost of owning. In the end you will own the truck and be able to make profit better than if you were still renting.

Also look around, There are local businesses that like to make loans to enterprising individuals. The business group will get to make money on a micro loan and may even get you loads in the future.
