An hour ago my engine started to refuse a clutch press to cancel the idle shutdown.
I started wondering if Swift somehow sent a command to my QC to disable that ability.
They never like my idle times.
But as I began writing this thread the warning came up again, so I pressed the clutch a few times with no luck.
Then I pressed the brake, and it cancelled.
Instead of deleting the thread I thought the info might be helpful if anyone else had the problem.
Is it possible to disable the idle shutdown bypass remotely?

Not sure about swift trucks. But the only way I could disable mine was to have the mech hook up the computer to truck and turn it off
-
normally if you raise the idle it will overide the shut down.
-
In my experience this will only hold it off for another 5 minutes, not cancel it.
-
But that is to disable the automatic idle shut down entirely.
I'm talking about the bypass for it - as in pressing the clutch or setting the cruise control. -
I didnt say this but. The outside temp sensor. You unplug it and the computer will read -50 something. It doesnt effect anything else but your outside air temp dont abuse the idling and nobody will say anything
Moosetek13 and Redbone311 Thank this. -
I wouldn't do this, but set the trailer brakes but not the tractor.
Redbone311 Thanks this. -
you've got 2 yrs, go someplace that doesn't play those kids games.
find one one with APU's or lax idle policies.RAGE 18 Thanks this. -
Nice to know - thank you

And this from Swift. The same people that won't let you put an inverter in the truck so you can make yourself some food. Nice.
As well as the same people being sued by their employes for stealing 7 to 10 percent of their mileage pay.
Not in a rush to go there.
