Thanks for feedback guys. I understand I run the the truck. I guess question was can they support it with available decent paying frieght? I always picked and dispatched myself in the past. As far as the leasing on because of last four years they tell me I gotta act fast.(Before November) and I fit the minimum but not sure until I send in application. They tell me only specialized is agent run and they seem to know nothing about it at head quarters. Again Thanks for feedback.

LS has a lot of great freight, a lot of crappy freight, a lot of great agents and a lot of crappy agents. If you've run like this before, know how to give excellent service, and know how to sniff out opportunities, you'll do fine here. The best freight, unless its hot, never makes it to the load board. 75% of my freight, I get a phone call or email seeing if I'm available, and I see my price for those agents for those loads. One customer asks for me by name for their occasional $4.50 per mile FL outbound freight. This is platform freight though. You have to find the agents with the good freight, network, etc. Yes LS has trade shows and such. Our very own OZR was bidding out a pop star tour a few months ago and looking for trucks to commit. When your not pulling a load, you should be scanning the boards looking for opportunity. I know of an agent with LTL can freight that pays awesome, but you must have an 08 or newer truck for the customer. It has made me consider being a door swinging monkey again. Good luck in your decision.tirednaz and landstar8891 Thank this.

I have only been with LS since July of this year and have only used the load board twice. most of my loads come from email and agent phone calls. My wife spends alot of time cold calling agents who broker freight from the areas I like to run and that has turned out some very good loads. I have been able to run into areas that normally don't pay and then get out for a good rate because of the the phone calls and letters she writes to the agents who we have used in the past. Marketing yourself IMO is a big part of this job.

Unless you can sweet talk someone. LS will not consider your application as you do not have the requisite recent experience. Look at the website and read all the qualifications for applying. Sorry to bear bad news.fireba11 Thanks this.

Pre qualified here and flying out Wednesday to hopefully pick up my truck, that is if this one doesn't get sold out from under me like the last two. I am going of outside Landstar for unlaiden liability and physical damage insurance and am wondering if someone could recommend a good company with reasonable rates. Got a quote thru OOIDA just to find out I can't use them. Also had planned on pulling flat or step but am considering pulling a van for a bit till I get up enough reserve to purchase a trailer rather than rent, any opinions.

Where are you heading to get the truck? Just wondering if this may be an avenue I want to go down in my future? Thanks.

I got a notice in the mail from Landstar about me violating my 14 hour rule by 0.10 hours back in June. Do I need to call them and follow up on it or can I just toss the notice?
-
I have busted thru the 14 hour window once and the 8 hour twice. I called in the next day with an explanation for the 14 hour violation. They called me about the 8 hour violations and gave me the pep talk and all was well. Its not a huge deal with LS,just call in and everything will be cool. Really Gabe .10 over your 14,you are a true outlaw my brother!Dewey120 Thanks this.
