Okay, so I've been driving long enough that I feel like I ought to know the answer to this question....but I don't. Imagine my surprise when I asked several people who have been driving much longer than I have....and they did not know the answer either.
When we let our jakes kick on...do the brake lights come on? I there anything to indicate to the people behind me that I am actually braking? I should mention that my truck is not on of the ones where you tap the brake pedal to engage them. Just lift your foot off the accelerator. Obviously if you have to hit the brake pedal to engage, they will at least flash.

I got a 2012 Pete where the engine brake comes on when I release the accelerator... and the engine brake switch is engaged. No, the brake lights don't come.
From Wiki:
Since engine braking only involves the engine and no actual external brake is involved, it makes sense that the brake lights don't come on. -
