No answer yet, just fired off the email earlier today. Had to calm down a bit before doing that.

it looks to me like this is totally on you at this point, you should have checked the product over thoroughly upon delivery, its no ones fault but your own that you installed it, heck I don't even leave McDonald's without checking my $3 order... I don't see the point in this thread till you get a response from the company.

So you don't have a problem with fraud? Sure I should've looked closer, but that has nothing to do with them selling me a bad product I paid $1700 for. Borg Warner would be awful interested in hearing one of their dealers is selling rebuilds/knockoffs at genuine prices using their name. Can you imagine a Cat or Detroit dealer doing that? This is no different.

I made the turbo work, we'll see how it performs. Maybe I should've just left it off, but it's not a huge deal installing a turbo if it's the right one. I'm going to take the old one with me just in case. I could probably have it on within an hour.

I can take some heat for the custom stuff, wrong v-band outlet and sensor. I don`t ever expect everything to go perfect. But everything else is completely unacceptable.

it sounds to me like you have the wrong turbo, I guess the best thing for you to do is wait till you hear back from the company before posting. ..at this point all we know is that they shipped the wrong product.

It would be my guess that the turbo matches the part number on the box, curious as to why you think it's a Chinese knock off.

A quick search found that turbo for less than $900, and most places have the race cover for around $200.

I'm going to chime in here,
i have personally dealt with reed at works turbocharger in the past on a custom turbo I was trying for my 2ws cat. I really can't believe I'm even hearing this and honestly I'm a little shocked.
I had nothing but positive work relations with this company and can't say enough about the professional way that he treated me as a customer. In the end I wasn't happy with the turbo,it was sized wrong for my application. I sent the turbo back after using it for a month and he refunded every penny. "who does that".

Maybe you should wait for a response from reed before you come on here and slander the crap out of him. At least give him a chance to make this right.

Cody, he had a speed sensor installed, a flange welded on the compressor, and a gtx compressor wheel put in this turbo. That's where the extra money is.

This is true but I can understand where he is coming from. I have ordered parts before and got them home and they have been wrong before. It is frustrating however. You are correct he should not have installed the turbo if he wasn't happy and should've contacted them immediately about the problem. I am not one to talk. My truck is my baby, when I order parts I expect people to do their job as I'm expected to do mine when they're wrong or knock offs (not saying this is a knock off or a genuine part) but neither her nor their when I get a knock off or rebuilt part when I pay for USA and brand new its frustrating but it cannot be solved unless contact is made. At that point in time the ball is in their court. If they don't want to make it right fine I'll go to the next step if they're willing to make it right great let's get it done. But working with people when you're calm is much better than working with people when you're in a yelling match. Done it both ways. I don't usually yell at small independents. Freightliner and peterbilt on the other hand. You're multi million dollar companies. Hire some people that know what the hell they're doing. Seems like freightliner and Pete want to be ######## about everything to and the smaller independents want to keep the customer happy but that's a discussion for another thread.
