    I actually like snap binders but the ratchets also have their place. I'd carry 4 snaps and 6 ratchets, myself.

    I would carry 12 chains and 14 binders to be safe

    16 foot chain will be fine. I'd get at least (6) 2 inch straps and rachets sicne they can be used for x, places where there is not 4 inch winch and any where else. They are handy. Get 30 PLASTIC edge protectors. Card bord is useless. You need 30 since you will loose some. If you need to save money you can start out with 12-15 4 inch straps. you dont need 20. You need 20 steel corner protectors since you need 2/chain. I'd get 4 snap binders and 6 ratchet. I prefer ratchet for safety reasons, but they are to long for some loads. As for rubber mats, you may want them longer then a mudflap. Mine were normally twice the length of a mudflap. They need to be long enough to lay under a coil and go over both peices of wood. I hope crap-ton pf buggies means at least 150. Remember they cost $25/50 online and 4 bucks each in a truckstop.

    Starps are pricey at truck stops so if you can afford its always good to have extra. A movable 4" winch wouldn't hurt either.

    nah, slick. i haven't been 33 years like you. so i haven't experienced it all like you. never heard of beveled timbers. and never used em.

    i've used regular dunnage with chains. cuz, you see. companies can't afford to buy EVERY type of equipment to haul EVERY type of freight. specially since they only haul wood, sheetrock, cars, and steel. for the most part.

    so, you know, you really shouldn't be knocking people down cuz they haven't been around the block LIKE U.

    aw heck, who am i kidding. every question i ask is a dumb question. according to U.

    The bevels increase coil stability, that is all. Dont need it if you never haul coils or slinkys. No one is saying your way is wrong snowwy.

    Get you some of those angled coil racks like TMC uses. That way you don't have to have beveled wood. They are adjustable too so you can rack baby coils with the same racks as bigger ones. By the way I don't care how much stuff you are carrying with you, some shipper will want something you ain't got. If you carried enough to please everybody you would have to pull a utility trailer behind your flat to carry it all.

    If you deal will oilfield or chemical plants many will not allow snap binders or 2 inch straps.
    They also seem to be on the hard wood 4x4s kick. And plastic chocks with 2 nail's each and all four corners.
    Oh and have had my chains inspected for grade 70 at Shell location last week
    20ft chains better too much than not enough.....
