A company can report a dirty hair sample to DAC/ISIS though. There is where they will get you.

Rules are rules. Trucking is a safety sensitive job. Driving while intoxicated can and had killed people. Many people. And not doing drugs isn't hard. Just don't do them.

Why is it that us older , more experienced folks seem to "get it". When some folk never seem to be able to comprehend this simple , fact of trucking. This has to be one of the best posts I've seen on this entire forum. Only one thing I can add to this...."I wish I had said it 1st."

Another simple , well thought out post....the mods need to put this where all the wannabe's and students and yes some of the newer drivers can see it. Driving is a privilege , and should be protected by a driver especially when your livelihood directly depends on a little piece of plastic. It's all about doing the adult/grown-up thing and hold yourself to a higher standard than most.....that's what being able to call yourself a professional driver means....say it however you want, if you can't hold yourself to that responsibilty find another career.

There are small companies that will hire with 3 yo dui I know I fell into that catogory at one time. Dont give up everybody screws up its just harder on someone with a cdl. Hold on Jethro I agree we need to be held to a higher standard but I know Ive screwed up. I dont think there is one person on here that has ever had a drink and drove wasnt close or over a .04 moral of story call a cab. Or in my case quit drinking best thing I ever did But Ill be darned if im gonna hang somebody on here who has had a dui keep trying the only thing that can stop you is insurance and dont let anyone tell you different my dui was 2.5 years old but nothing eles on my dl I got hired.

I am just playing devil's advocate here.

No more second chances I guess? One lapse of judgement and you're out? If that isn't fair, how do we determine who should get a second chance and who shouldn't? If they hurt someone? I think insurance companies will decide who gets a second chance and at what price. Don't forget, there are those who have screwed up and those who haven't screwed up YET. I like to think that people learn from their mistakes and try to do better moving forward.

I got my dui on a Harley at the beach in N.C. level5 least amount of punishment. All Im saying is if you drink and drive I know that your close or over the .04 for a cdl holder the only ones that have a right to say anything are the ones who have NEVER had a drink and drove something. Fair statement ?
