    ...I hope that's possible.

If not, I just told you all I'm really weird.

I have decided that I really want to work for System Transport. I love everything I've seen so far. My only worry is that I'm on the small side. I'm a little nervous about lifting and positioning tarps. How did you get in shape for your eval? Are there any weight/core routines you did that helped you? I'm pretty strong right now, but I don't think I'm fully up to the tarps, yet. I want to get as prepared as possible before I go to orientation.

    mje Thanks this.

Oh. And just to clarify -- I didn't say I was small as in being fragile or delicate. I CAN do work. I just meant I'm small enough not to be confused with a Viking warrior goddess.

I've been running flats for about 5 months now and in that time I've had to lift the tarps onto the load once. Every other time I just grab the guy on the forklift and have them lift them up for you. Why blow your back out if you don't have to? After they are on the trailer it's just rolling them out and securing them.
I am also on my way to system. Actually just put my app in and should be heading to orientation in a couple weeks or so. Good luck!

I am in orientation with them right now. In talking with the drivers in the yard, most have said they can usually get a forklift for the taller loads, on most of the shorter ones, if you can power clean 90 lbs. you'll be fine. Great company so far, the training is a bit tedious, but it seems like it is going to be great! See you guys out there!

There are times it don't happen. Take heed. Lift it onto the tractor first. I can bearly do it. Never mind.

With fatbedding, the trick is to work smarter.
Plan in your head how you want it loaded and where you want your tarps to be when finished loading and getting ready to tarp.
You might want the forklift to put them on or throw then from your deck on the pallet before he puts it on your deck.
The guys who least problems and tarp the quickest are usely the ones who use their brain the most.:biggrin_255:
I did 9 years off flats and i NEVER lifted a tarp all the way on top off a load.

ps if you get a grumpy forkliftdriver who you suspect might leave you in the lurch when it comes to putting your tarps on the load..............putting the tarp on your deck where he wants to put a pallet can gently persuade him to put the tarp on that pallet before it is on your trailer.:biggrin_25525:

Another trick is to allways fold your tarps the right way.
Fold in either 3 or 5 equal parts, depending on the size off tarp.
    Never in 4 equal parts.
Because you want your tarp to be in the middle off the load.

If you fold a big tarp in 5 equal parts and you have a low load, you don't throw the bottom side down but the fold.
A lot off excess tarp is then allready under the tarp and out off the way.:biggrin_25521:

Systems is a specialized hauler. I don't think I've seen them tarp a lot of loads.

I wouldn't worry about the tarp deal.

There is always a way to get it done.
