Ahhh fun, fun, fun. Finished my Food Lion Fri at 1600. Got a Sabra to DOT Foods in Mt Sterling, IL, fun part was it didn't finish loading until 1600 Sat (24 hours twiddling my thumbs) and delivers Mon at 0800. 942 miles so I took a little time and got there last night. They unloaded me by midnight and took my break there. Got up in the morning and sent my empty call. Now I found this out the hard way so take note, QC messages don't go out or come in there, at least mine didn't work. Got ahold of John and he told me to deadhead to Boar's Head in Forrest City, AR 442 miles, made it in 413 and 4 min before my 8 hour break hehe.
Now heres my question- heading to the BH in Brooklyn, so are there any little tidbits I ned to know?

So as I sit here looking over streets, I'm a little confused. Our directions have us going 278 east, turn right on Metropolitan ave, then left on Bogart. From everything I am seeing Metropolitan and Bogart don't intersect.

Well I'm on my final load with Abilene, kind of bittersweet. I have enjoyed my time here at Abilene, but have taken a local/regional position out of Charlotte. Guaranteed two full days off a week and can take a 10 hour break 2 or 3 additional nights a week at the house. After 13 years of OTR I'm ready to be home a little more. They run within a 300 mile radius of Charlotte.
I have been second guessing my decision the last few days....fear of the unknown I guess, but I just spent the last 45 minutes talking to a driver with the outfit I'm going to who backed into the row across from me. He assured me that everything I was told by the recruiter and the gentlemen in charge of the account were spot on. So that put my mind at ease.
After deliverying this load in Richmond tomorrow I will be turning in my truck and renting a car to go home. I gave Abilene about a 10 day notice, and again I have nothing negative to say about Abilene... I always got good miles, was always in great equipment, and have been treated fair. I will poke my head back in here on occasion to see how things are going. Be safe!RebelChick Thanks this. -
Sad to see you go, but I fully understand. I will say this again, thank you for all your help when I first hired on. Your a stand up guy, good luck in the new job. Keep in touch and many safe miles. You will be an asset at the new company just like you were here at Abilene.runningman0661 Thanks this.

How often do you guys go to the boar's head dist. in Holland, Mi? I live real near by and saw one of your trucks today bobtail heading to the plant. I used to and will soon again run for a local carrier that hauls boar's head as well( Rabbit River II). Love reading this thread!
