These crooked SOB's...it never fails.
I'm not against the testing. But I flatly refuse to be held financially responsible for the cost of the BS test. They're talking 100's of thousands of dollars in cost, strapped to the backs of truck drivers
If you (government) want test...you should pay for them yourself. -
Yeah I agree with Dance...if they want the testing then the financial burden should fall upon them.
I'm all for testing as well but I don't like the conotation that any trucker involved in an accident is guilty until proven innocent. They would have basically been assuming that the trucker was under the influence. -
Why just focus on the CDL drivers, I think if they are going to mandate tests, any and all drivers in accidents should have to be tested.
But then again no one in their right mind would pass a bill that mandated that when they crash they are drug and alcoholic suspects until proven innocent.

At my place of employment they use what they call " The Three T's Rule " . Is that not a Federal Law ? 3 T's = Ticket , Tow , or Transport . That is if you as a CDL driver receive a Ticket... off the Pee Police. Tow, if any vehicle needs to be Towed away ..off to the Pee Police. and Finally if anyone involved at the scene needs to be Transported to the Hospital ...thats right you guessed it ..off to see the Pee Police !!!! AT ONCE ! I thought that was a Federal thing ...what do i know im just a Local Driver and i plan on staying that way . I dont know how you folks do OTR with all these laws. Much respect to all the OTR drivers !

The other company I used to work for tested me three times in one month...when asked why I was being zoned out their answer was " well your name came up randomly" right like I believe that....I have never done drugs and I will never do them....

I'm convinced that some companies when they find a "clean" driver they will pull them repeatedly because they don't want the hassle of dealing with a dirty driver.
NOT taking into account that the effect of a "dirty" driver being involved in a wreck will hassle them far far more than if they just whiz quizzed that driver and fired his sorry self for using. -
I dont believe that.. atleast i know where i work they use an outside company that pulls our names. At the same time i heard last week that certain drivers are being tipped off as to when they are going to be tested . And as far as the accident thing goes . I recall a driver getting involved in an accident and the Supervisors and management were hoping his test came back positive for drug. I was told that a positive result would take the heat off the company . The Accident involved a bicyclist.Turned out the Driver has his license suspended and he ended up testing clean . I dont know but when you have big companies doing what they want with Drug Testing it can be kinda scary sometimes even for those that have nothing to hide . I almost feel like blowing the whistle here . Tipping off certain drivers ? Plus i know for a fact when someone comes up dirty management tells all the other drivers all about it which is illegal .

Presumed guilty until proven innocent??? WTF??? I don't think so!!
And UNLESS THEY HAVE REASONABLE CAUSE TO SUSPECT ALCOHOL USE, no way we should pay for it!!!!!!
And, yes, ALL drivers should be subject to these laws.
Thank goodness this law did not pass!! It would have just created prejudice against truckers big time, as if there isn't enough out there already.
What is the matter with these people???? Can we pass a law to have all political people's background completely investigated and posted on a public site? Have them tested for drinking and driving EVERY time we want to? etc., etc., etc... -
I truly believe that is true....and to top it off...the company made me pay for each drug tests myself....and I told them that wasn't right to make me pay for a drug test that was initiated by them....but they took it out of my pay....maybe that is why I don't work for them anymore?
