Places to find loads

I am hoping to get some good advice as I am retiring out of the military in the next few months and my wife and I had discussed buying a truck and seeing the united states together as I drove for 6 yrs in the late 90's early 2000's. When 9/11 happened I got a phone call asking me to return to the military as I had a NEC that was greatly in need so I did. I have kept my cdl's and fully intend on using them. So here is the problem. I just got back from deployment and my useless son in law who hasn't worked in 3 yrs has convinced my wife that he can take my F350 and 24ft enclosed trailer and make money shipping merchandise like on uship. Now I will not do this underhanded and we got the DOT and MC number and the required insurance. Where can a true company find real loads and not play with these guys bidding .35 to.50 cents a mile. I don't know how anyone thinks they can live doing that. Mt truck aint gonna move for that. Insurance is 900 a month. Thank you in advance for any help.
