I'm going to be leaving for Primes Orientation in Springfield on Monday, September 16th. I was wondering if anyone else here just starting out will be starting around that same time.

Also, I've been studying my manual to get my permit before I go and recently found out that I need to get a physical exam before I'm even allowed to take the written test for the permit.. I'm not sure if this is normal for every state, and since it's something I have to pay out of pocket it's just another thing I have to deal with before leaving.

Anyways, my main reason for posting was to see if anyone else was starting on the same day as me and what you were doing to prepare.

Prime, Inc., is a good outfit... like most of these companies, you get out what you put in.

    Good luck to you...!

I've read that you get 1 day off for every 7 days you work. Which is fine with me and my family.. Is something like 7 weeks out with 1 week off completely unheard of?

Not if you are a lease operator. Prime does not like the company drivers to have more than 4 days off in a row, excluding the day you get into home and the day you leave home. So a word to the wise don't be out more than 4 weeks, Been there and done that. LOL

    Have fun at Springfield

It kind of depends on your ability to absorb a short settlement check. 4 or 7 days off kills the money.

Being new and a bit nervous, I don't believe driving at 58 will bother me to much right off the bat. Later on though.. I'm sure it will.

Would you rather run at 58, be paid exceeding well for an entry-level employee- or run at 65 and exist on ramyen noodles, and be paid peanuts like all the other carriers who would hire a driver with no experience?

    Your choice.
