    Nowadays trainees are training trainees.

    "What do we do here"?

    "I don't know? I guess we'll figure it out together". :)

That or like the OP said the trainer wants to herd them through the easiest way possible to get the money.

Good trainers are becoming more of a rarity.

    "idk"

"I thought you were watching that side."

"I thought you said you had it."

First teacher should have at least 500k miles exp truck should be run as a solo truck teacher logging on duty when student is driving should be a 50k students driven not teacher

Most don't even stay in trucking long enough to get 500k. And figure a student having to drive 50k miles would be roughly 4-5months... that's a long time at $350 a week. Nobody would do it. I'd say 200-250k for trainers and 15k to the student.

Ill agree with most of what you said, but a couple I would disagree on. One is the loyalty cards. The trainer is paying for the fuel, he gets the points, but my company made then purchase our showers. Also, you make it sound like you should ##### about every little thing you have go wrong. I disagree with that. If you do that, youre probably going to have 4 or more trainers by the time youre done. When I was with my trainer, two different times we had to skip a shower, and take one on the third day, to get the load there on time. Did I say, hell no, drop me off. No. I sucked it up, knew I was done in X amount of days, and would be on my own. Small things like that, I dont voice too much. I did make a joke saying, man, i can smell my self. And he just kindly said, I know, as soon as we deliver, we are going straight to the showers. No big deal. Not worth making a HUGE fuss over.

Now when it comes to safety, or actually learning something, youre #### straight you better be opening your mouth. A couple of examples that I had to do personally was when it came to backing. He never let me GOAL. He always said, I wont let you hit anything. So one day, I just set the parking brake, and started to GOAL, he realized I was serious, and let me continue. Also, Most of our loads were light, so the mountains (which were entirely new to me, never even driven a car in the mountains) werent that big of a deal, until we got a 79,800 pound load. Then I said, youre going to be up when we get in the mountains right? He said, no, you got this. I said no, you WILL be up when we get in the mountains, Im here to learn, and if that means you lose a whole half hour of sleep, then so be it. He did help me out in the mountains, and I feel confident now. Even though Im on midwest, and barely deal with them.

Thats my 2 cents. I did feel like we were a team though. He slept while I drove on the interstate, but as soon as I got off the highway, he was up, watching me, and listening to my shifting.

I hope your ability to communicate with your students face to face is better than how you're communicating on these boards because I am having such a hard time understanding you.
