    Mr. Jay and Lucar,
Thanks for your posts. I know from my own experience that you both speak the truth. I picked up an Android tablet at Big Lots, it had the latest specs including Jelly Bean. It was terrible, sloooow, clunky, and totally useless, I returned it 2 days later. The brand happened to be Polaroid, which no longer has any meaning, as the original Polaroid Corp, went bankrupt many years ago. Just a junk import with a previously great, but now licensed name. Brand name among these low end android tablets doesn't insure quality. Had all those key words like dual core. Hi speed wifi, gig this, and mega pixel that. Out of the box, barely could connect to a good wifi network. Generic Androids no longer have access to the Google App Store without some kind of hack, where all the good apps are. I got access to some no name App Store and the Amazon App Store. The google store is only available to Samsung, Google and other high end tablets. Even with Jelly Bean OS!!! Forget any comparison to the Apple App Store, which is amazing by itself. 99% of the apps I use are free, never paid more than $2.99 for any app. And every app has reviews by people who use them, not sell em.

If you wanna be happy with your Tablet, you're not get there with any low end name brand selling new for less than $200 ($ could and will change at anytime). The Polaroid was $79. @ Big Lots

Go to an Apple store, the service is top shelf, and they'll give you a demo for free. Then if you want to keep looking - Go TRY OUT an Android on the higher end, and don't buy any you can't try out, or see a live demo on.

As far as Trucker Tab, if the GPS software is as good as he says it is, he should be selling it as an APP, on the Android and Apple App Stores. On the PC side of the business, none of the top software has to have a piece of "dedicated" hardware (computer/machine) to use it fully. There's more than enough power in an iPad to run any application.

And while it is not truck specific, Google Maps is world class, you'll still need to carry the Truck Atlas ALWAYS! Belt and suspenders forever!

Please post a real time demo on you tube and post the link here, then we all can see the performance you talk of. Also if you can do this, please do the demo at a real truck stop to show real world performance.
    Looking forward to the video.
    Thanks

I've about tossed my tablet a few times, I only keep it for internet 3g <--thats sad!
I'd rather have full screen, and keyboard than try fittin my fat fingers in that touch screen.

JMO, Buy a laptop with everything you require... then add 4g w/ gps usb stick. I know you noobies with fancy talkin phones have sumtin to say... tell it to your girl friend Siri or what ever her name is. J/K :biggrin_25525:

a lot of good informative posts with well spoken points.

i recently bought a 7 inch tab from radioshack. couldn't beat the $80 price. everyone has a tab so i got the urge to buy me one. wanted something to watch the load boards. needless to say. it don't get used. and trying to use it on a 7 in screen. kinda sucks. but it access the google store. there's no hacking cuz it's not available for the brand.

i use the pcmiler for my gps. but they aren't being sold anymore. i really love that brand. cheap and only smokes crack about once every 3 months. runs circles around the first way more expensive brand i tried.

i can buy a 10 inch tablet with gps. but so far i haven't found anything less then $300. i already paid my $150 for copilot. so, if i can find a good deal on a 10 in. i'd be all over it. and i do see something called a mitablet. for $125. but it runs 2.3. not that it would be a deal breaker for me as all i want is the load board on a bigger screen. and i know it'll run my copilot software. i bought it when android was still 2.0 and my phone was the sprint evo 4g.

as long as copilot will still make the software. i really have no need for all the other features. there's an app for that. for free. i'll still run it. cuz the handheld unit is going obsolete.

but let's not be harsh. not everyone has the means, the smarts, or the know how. and what the op posted. would be a good deal for them. they don't care about the specs. or know anything about the specs. they just want a working toy.

it would be nice. however. if they DID sell the software. but i have yet to find a way to buy it. without the tablet. so it's probably a joint venture with the tablet maker.

The Galaxy Note II is only $199 and I have one.I can listen to music, play poker or angry birds, check my bank and comdata acct.,stream music and videos, use google maps with gps and oh yeah make phone calls. It has 16gb internal storage and I have a 64gb card in it. As good as it is I still use my laptop with MS streets and trips gps and combined with the 17" screen it beats a 7" all day long.

    Hi,
I'm not associated to Truckers Tablet but I have one, and I have Garmin Dezl 760 as well. I was reading posts in different forums about Garmin Dezl being the best thing that ever happened after sliced bread and putting down Truckers Tablet as a "cheap tablet with mediocre GPS software", Reviews that I saw on the internet made me decide to buy Garmin Dezl 760... $400 dollars wasted! You can agree or disagree with me, everyone is entitled to their opinion... If you don't have Garmin Dezl 760 and you are looking for one, you might want to watch this video...

You are right, it's my truck in all of the videos you see Truckers Tablet in. There are several drivers in my company that use Truckers Tablet, after I got it and used for few days, I asked "thetabletguy" why there are no videos of the tablet, he said that he's not driving trucks anymore. Told him, that i'll make some for him because crap like Garmin has tons of videos and his tablet has none (because of them I spent $400 on that worthless crap). It's also true that i'm not affiliated with Truckers Tablet in any way and I don't get any financial benefits from sales of the tablet. Just seriously pissed at Garmin for false claims they make about the DEZL.

Hmmm, new member whose only posts are to defend the truckers tablet. He shows up just in time to post how great an over priced under spec'ed item is.
