Challenge with Choice is they still have load planners that will have access to freight first. And they know what is coming but not on the boards. So they are not going to move a truck into a market that is going to have limited reload options.

It is a great marketing program. O/O's want to have more control. But you also have to be able to make a living. 65-70%? You need $2.50+ freight ALL THE TIME TO STAY WHOLE.

The one thing about the SNI board I will give them credit for is this : the rate posted is to the truck so if it says 1.05 or 0.97 out of Dallas or Houston at least you know your getting the short end of the stick and don't have to do any math .. Lol

I saw a rare out of FL on the SNI board that I think was out of the Tampa area 0.67 . Here's the catch though if you take a load for SNI on choice below I-10 in FL you MUST RELOAD out you CANNOT DEADHEAD out .. That's their policy on choice ( just a heads up on SNI and choice also )

the SNI Choice Program should be renamed :
    1. SNI Suplemental Board
    2. SNI Overflow Program
    3. SNI Planners First Program
    4. SNI Last Choice Program
    5. SNI Last Resort Program
    6. SNI Right before we Broker it Program

cause you will most likely always get what they can't cover since like you said planners have access to the freight on the board also and can cherry pick what goes on the board or what you never see that should have been on the board .

Bottom line with SNI choice program:

Pros: 1.)No brokers to deal with. 2.)Steady Freight. 3.) Work when & where you want. 4.)can average 120k miles a year no problem

    CONS:
1.) Many empty trailer searches that go unpaid if sni magic distance calculator doesn't match up to sni magic trailer pay formula. (unpaid, unplanned deadhead, 40mi here 35 miles there etc.)
2.)Loads canceling on front end of your planned load work for next few days. resulting in losing all other loads due to not being able to bridge your distance gap. (loss revenue)
3.)Constant change in their operating systems.
    4.)electronic logs
5.)You break down under a load, require a company truck repower you pay 500.00. (refer to number 2. Sni pulls/cancels load you get paid zero. Only TONU if customer can be charged)
6.)Regulated as a company driver. Yearly driving ride along(recertification), quarterly safety lessons, etc. etc.
    7.) 90 day Tractor inspections
8.)Have a accident that is preventable which almost all will be. 80% chance you lease will be terminated immediately.
9.)65% of revenue (Which is potentially controlled through neat system of Schneider logistics their brokerage side booking loads, Then Schneider National trucking side booking through SNI logistics that could quite possibly be making the resulting 65% be of 90% of total load revenue instead of 65% of 100% of total load revenue).
10.)Not all freight available is listed on load board.
11.)When you build a nice profitable triangle or loop it will soon disappear in time. SNI won't lose account just loads not showing on board anymore.
12.) Very hard to average more than 1.70 at end of year (after ALL deadhead, unpaid trailer searches)
13.)Most guys no matter what they tell you would be in 1.50-1.60 yearly average for all Miles.
14.)Many guys only average 1.40-1.50 total. (The ones that refuse to run certain places)
    15.)No fleet owners on choice
    16.)No teams

Bottom Line if you can stomach giving up an additional 40,000.00 to 50,000.00 in NET revenue then SNI choice program is not that bad of a place to be. Make no mistake SNI makes more off their IC's then any company truck they run.

You beat me too the punch. problem is not with Schneider, it is with people who cant do basic math. Backhaul from that part of the woods is my cost per mile-a dollar a mile . Need 3 to go in. me personally 3.75 for tolls and trouble which I never get . So I dont go there

Well this is easy to fix. Just pay the new $75,000 instead of the old $10,000 bond that is required for your brokerage license, find some loads, and start making the millions you think are there. I wish it was that simple. The easiest way to stop cheap freight is to quit hauling it. The reality is there is always some one out there that is on the fast track to going broke. They seem to haul it all the time. Out here on the "LEFT" coast, some of these guys think they are better to haul $.075/ml freight than deadhead. It usually only takes a year or so and you see their truck in some pasture for sale.
