Does CDL classes teach you how to open and close trailer doors and how to fuel the truck and reefer and how to check in and the shipper and reciever and how to position the goods cause mine didn't and I went to a local technical college. My trainer said that they should've tought me these things in school but didnt .My trainer would tell me what to do in the cab of the truck and expect me to do it.He didn't show me how to do it till I messed up or something.I just got home today.I left out on feb 2nd.I went to stockton ca then when we got finished in cali we went to miami area.In the winter haven winter garden area.Had 6 or 7 pick up there.Man on my first trip out I almost hit this guy in cali that he was seemed like he came out of nowhere running in my lane and I had to get in the left lane to miss him and my trainer called 911 and told him about it.

how would a school "teach" you how to check in at a shipper/receiver? sounds like your "trainer" is a moron. don't go back out with this guy on another trip if you don't feel like you're getting what you need from him. some "trainers" just flat out suck. ask your company for another one. if you don't get the right trainer, you WON'T make it in this business.

Usualy your school will not teach you this. its your trainer's job! The other post is right, get another trainer!!! The one you have is a flake. I worked as a driver trainer. He should be showing you everything you need to know, and shippers and recivers are a big part of it. Its called customer relations. The company paper work ,logs and qualcom (if you use it ) are next. Driving the truck is the easy part.

Yeah I'm home now and I am getting another trainer. Its the one I originally had till about 30 min. or so into the trip he got arrested for fleeing a cop of which we didn't do.I have to write a statement about.I'm glad I'm changing trainers cause I didn't like the one I had.I liked this guy better.Maybe he'll reteach me the right way.

the trainer must have missed that day of training:biggrin_25523:

opening/closing doors are pretty self explantory, once you do it once your an expert.

fueling truck can be different , my company has pilot cards:)biggrin_25513:i hate pilots) i can only fuel at pilot

checking in with shipper/reciever i think can be the worst, you get in some cases punks who just dont care, they get paid by the hour and they are working like that
some places are quick to get you done...but everyplace you go with will be different...
