I really don't have anything bad to say about these guys but that they run old equipment and they take forever to get you to your truck, They would not offer me a bus ticket to the terminal and they only offered me a ride in another truck of theirs coming through my town, I requested a NON SMOKING Trucker to ride for 7 hours! So I waited and waited and waited... They never got anyone through here so I gave up, It seems their Safety Coordinator was very busy with things going on in her personal life. feel free to PM me if you would like any more information.

You couldn't deal with cigarette smoke for a few hours?:smt009 Maybe they deemed you too high maintenance and gave up. What areas do they run BTW?

Why should a non smoker be forced to ride with a smoker? Ever heard of second hand smoke?
Look at it this way. If the company is too cheap to even buy a bus ticket for a new driver, aren't they probably too cheap to compensate the drivers properly?
By the way, I used to be a three pack a day smoker, and I quit, as did many others. When I did smoke, I didn't try to force others to smell my bad air.
Being a non smoker is not high maintenance. On the contrary, non smokers have far fewer health problems than smokers do, and the company would pay less for health care for their employees if they didn't smoke.

i am in agreement with this driver. Unfortunately companies aren't really concerned with your primary needs, they just care about the $$$$$. Good luck to ya

You obvious missed the point. It's a 7 hour ride. You won't die after breathing in some tobacco smoke for that time. Get real. Not like they were forcing him to team with a smoker indefinitely. He should of put on his big boy pants and not said anything. If I was the manager of the company I would of said to myself "this guy is too demanding" and gave up.

Over 20,000 people they know of die from lung cancer caused by radon gas. The cancer rate is twice as high down wind from 3 Mile Island from the radiation release some 33 years ago. Diesel Fumes cause lung cancer. Fumes from chemical plants cause lung cancer. Some household cleaning products cause cancer. Accidental exposure to asbestos can cause lung cancer. Breathing smoke from a fire with creosote, plastics, or treated lumber can cause lung cancer. Food preservatives and additives can cause cancer. There are several causes.

Yet everyone believes if you get lung cancer and don't smoke it's from 2nd hand smoke. I like to see the proof and what concentrations. Did they follow someone around for 30 years? Of the ones that died from so called second hand smoke how many were exposed to the above?

When someone has a cause to prove they dig and they fabricate. But I read about it on the internet and newspaper. It must be true.

Don't get me wrong, cigarettes kill but this second hand stuff is blown out of proportion. The amount of smoke a non-smoker inhales is probably like .01% compared to a smoker.

One can always open a window. Surely the guy will stop once. Even I can go 3-4 hours without a cigarette. But that's it. Something is going to give, lol.

To let you know why I don't like smoke is I get a sever sinus infection and normally need 2 rounds of antibiotics, The reason for the two rounds is as a child my mother would take me to the Dr. for the slightest nasal drip and so I am immune to most antibiotics and so the first one has to do its job and then while my bodies guard is down we hit it with the second one, call me what you want to, I was even willing to take a Southwest Airlines Flight into Ontario or whatever is closest and then take the hit on my first pay check, But they wouldn't do that, I told them rent a car here and then return it there, I'll drive there, it is a 7 hour drive no big deal but they wouldn't do it, So I gave up on them. Take Care I hope this explains things better.
