hey all, my grandfather use to be in to cb stuff years and years ago. He passed away 10 years ago now, and I have been given all of his cb equipment. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about a couple of these items, in particular the Astatic d104m6 mic and his iroqouis 40 cardon cb base station. I know the base station is heavily moded.

The D104M6 is a favorite mic amongst CB operators.

Are you planning to put grand dad's gear on the air and use it? or just put it on eBay and sell it?

cool, Maybe ill put the mic on my Uniden then. As for the radio, I don't want to sell it. I am going to use it. It came with a huge base station antenna as well. I think the thing is around 50 ft tall, so it should reach pretty far.

That Astatic mic is a power mic, keep the mic gain levels on the mic and radio down and try and get a trusted set of ears to help you achieve the right sound. If you crank both wide open you are likely just to over modulate and squeal all over. Don't know much about that base, if you mount the antenna just get it up high and make sure your SWR is nice and low.

The Iroquois was made by Midland International for the Canadian market. IIRC it is identical to the Colt 1000. Could you possibly post a photo of it?

The radio looks similar to some of the old Pearce Simpsons

Nice stuff! Bet that radio has "extra" channels in it too. First base station I ever had was a little mobile radio, Kris 23 channel, on a Tenna power supply (came out of a 8 track display from the Goodyear store) a Cushcraft Ringo antenna, and D104 "Lolliepop". The station wasn't much to look at, but it sounded first rate!
