Looking for both good or bad opinion on this company! NASTC recommended them for workman comp and pay roll, when i mentioned i was looking to buying a second truck. So far i have local Omaha, NE quotes in the $8500 per year range. Workman comp is a new territory for me so all input is welcome!

We've used them for about 4 years now.

Works good for us, and they offer better benefits than we could.

Plus payroll is always correct, and it keeps us legal with insurance requirements.

Not sure about them but what I will say about being a small carrier with employees you are going to be hard pressed to do anything any better than leasing your employees. WC is a killer in this industry if you have no rating.

Ugh the dreaded workman's comp. I have called around to a few local insurance companies around and having got much better for quotes. Obviously its based off your company payroll. Which will be estimated for your first year paying your employee depending on how you plan to pay him/her. If you're going to cover yourself that's another story. My quote was outrageous to cover the partners in the business based on the wage...sooooo that being said I dropped it do cover the cost of both trucks sitting, and putting $50/day in our pockets to live on. Still a high quote.

Don't try to get by with just occupational accident insurance. If you employ anybody in Nebraska you are required to have workman's comp. I don't know if that applies if you 1099 your driver I don't know about the contracted laborer laws. Your best bet is to call the state and ask them. I called a workman's comp lawyer in Lincoln about weather i was required to have it in Nebraska or not. I'd say that would probably be your best bet. They know the laws, they can tell you the loop holes, an insurance company is just going to tell you that you need this that and the other because they want your money.

    For a 2 truck operation,

I think you'll find it better to do things yourself.

They offer a great service, but you sure do pay for it.....

OOIDA would be familiar with workers comp in your state. They also offer an occupational accident policy at a competitive rate, if it works in your situation. I have found them to be a good resource for many years.

Here's an update ,$8500 is a fair price for workers comp in nebraska. Peoplease doesn't work with companies smaller then 10 employees. I was advised also to wait til after mid January to find out how Obamacare rolls out by.my accountant.

You need to find a way to lease him your second truck. A single employee will kill you with all the fillings and insurances you need to keep up on.
