OMGosh, who knew? OK, Windex is on the shopping list. We'll try anything at this point. :)

Yep about Werner, found out the hard way. Will find out even more while looking for another place to drive. yippee!

I totally agree with you about the money issue! I told him I couldn't see why we'd go back and work for them, except that we have insurance coverage that we need. Yes, it is cheaper to just stay home than it has been to go out for them and be miserable for 3 or 4 weeks at a time, living in a truck and making practically no money. Food is definitely cheaper at home. I never realized that the truck stops would charge so much for the truckers to eat! Do they think the truckers are wealthy? And in Canada it's even worse. A buffet meal is $14.95 a person! And the US dollar isn't worth as much as their dollar, so it costs even more than that. We'd only eat about every three days while over there and beg to be sent back to the USA. Then we'd eat at the first place we found for 1/4 the price.

Good advice though about choosing the right company this time. We'll try. Fingers crossed.

    OP,

You nice folks can apply to every company in existance.

But the truth of the matter,

only about 4-8 will hire from your location.

You said he was on indeeds website earlier, search there first.

Any company that says they hire from your location, you'll need to call and verify.

You folks are in one of the worse places for trucking companies. But you have some choices.

    Again,

    Good Luck .

We work for US Xpress. Our truck hasn't broken down. We drive a 2013 ProStar. If they assign you a POS truck then turn it down. You have plenty of options in regards to jobs.

We were told by online chat to call Jill. We'll see what she says. On their website they say they are looking for people from FL and they list Tampa, which is not far north of us. He wants to solo drive, OTR.

The company doesn't allow inverters, guess they had a truck fire or two that ruined that idea for everyone. So we can't have much in there to keep food in. We did buy a little fridge from Pilot, it keeps things cooler than room temperature, but not cold at all. We bought bread, peanut butter, jelly, crackers. But man, you can only eat so many pbj sandwiches before you can't choke another one down, no matter how hungry you get, lol. Thanks for the tip though ... another Werner trucker told us he had a crock pot and used an inverter even though it wasn't allowed. He also had a cute little dog riding with him that he said he didn't tell Werner about because he couldn't afford to pay the $250 pet fee. Our luck, we'd get caught.
