Who ran your orientation, by the way? Where was it held? If this is true -- and I doubt that it is -- then whoever was running that orientation needs to be taken out of his/her position for providing misinformation to the recruits. However, having met most of the people who run these orientations and having spoke at a few myself -- I seriously doubt your claims. But if what you're saying is true, give me names and I'll make sure the appropriate people are informed. Because whoever told you that is a great big liar.

Got it. I'm listening. Having been a recruiter in the medical industry, I know we heard that sort of thing about us there too. So it hurts, and I don't want to distrust people, but already I have seen how biased and uninformed they can be--and I have only been at this interviewing for a few days, at least with trucking companies.

Still, I am listening to you.

    Reading til my eyes bleed....

oh its ######## huh .... then i guess you were right there with me in that office when they told me that even though i have 9 years i needed a trainer and i guess you were there when they introduced me to the little punk kid and you were there when i asked him his age and you were there when i asked him how long he was driving and you were there when i told them hell no and walked out ...

unless you were standing next to me when i was there .. then you DONT know ... i know .. i was there ...

and for you added info .. his name is Frank and he runs the orientation on PA and he was the one who said and i quote .. you can mentor if you are here 30 days .. most likely not until you hit 90 .. but you can after 30 ... i guess you were right there for that as well ... i know what i heard him say .. i was right there 3 feet from him when he said it ...

do NOT tell me i am full of ######## .. i have been in and around this industry before you were even a itch in your daddy pants ....

you want to know what i know you come ask me .. do assume i do not know what i am talking about when i was right there ...

    come and ask ...

Frank in PA, eh? Was the class done at the terminal? If so, which one? Also, would you like me to post a picture of the Swift handbook regarding mentorship? Just because "Frank" says so, doesn't make it any less of bulls***, amigo.

Which terminal, again? Like I said, I can provide a nice little picture of the company policy on mentorship if you like.

Honestly boys and girls, the bickering isn't needed. Nor is the huffing and puffing.

I'm not sure who said what and what said who. I do know that the first trainer I had with Swifty had far less than a year even driving a truck, let alone training.

Be it 30 days, 90 days or 180 days, as far as I'm concerned you should'nt be considered a "mentor" or whatever the hell a trainer is called these days until you've had far more experience. It's laughable anyone should consider their self a trainer even at a year.

I don't care if you've been driving a year, anything less than 5 or 6 years you should be considered a solo driver and that's it. You want to be a team driver fine.... trainer, give me a break!

I could not have said it better myself. The mere thought of being " trained " by someone with limited driving experience would result in...some Swift drivers getting the reputation of being inexperienced.....

I noted that Swift allowing people to be a mentor at the one year mark (although you can apply at the six month mark -- most people aren't accepted at that time) was still far short of what I'd consider reasonable. Mentors for all companies should have at least 3-4 years of experience, IMO. However, this guy saying Swift had a mentor that ran three loads before becoming a mentor is downright ridiculous. The only way that could have happened is if he had experience from another company when he came over. In that case, it'd have to be a year or more experience with the other company. Otherwise, Swift, per company policy, requires you come in as a new driver with less than a year somewhere else and you, yourself, must go out with a mentor before you can even go solo.
