Oh I was arrested in 07 was deffered adjudacated 3 months treatment in court order half way house released early from probation and sober ever since, just wondering.

DUI's that old I doubt made the system when they computerized. It would be found in a Hazmat or TWIC (port card) background check. As far as getting hired you are hireable. If you've been sober 5 years than you can say you won. Only you know that. I quit drinking cold turkey years ago and never had a second thought about it. I was lucky to not get in any trouble. Calling it a disease is just an excuse to relapse. It's a habit and a dependency while you are using it. Once you beat the dependency than all you have left is the old habit haunting you. That is overcome with other good habits. You also have to replace your friends and surroundings. Them friends weren't really friends. They were friends by association. I'm sure you already learned you can have fun without partying.

What do you have to lose? Go for it. Just when you commit to trucking you commit to never return to your old lifestyle. If you mess up they'll bury you. If you see that as a possibility then no you shouldn't truck.

Depending on what the arrest was for, you'll be ok. Drugs are usually a no no. Companies tend to ignore that app with a drug arrest unless its been quite sometime. And addiction is not a disease. I did lots of drugs and drank a lot. Never looked back since.

Sorry but thats what you believe. And what you want to believe is fine. But it is medically a disease its covered by insurance n disability and yes some have collected disability checks example former Dallas Maverick Roy Tarpley. So in the medical it is, anyways doesnt matter its not part of my life anymore. And I have to offers to drive, fixen to make my decision, have a great day n be safe, God Bless,

I didn't hurt anyone and wasn't driving a CMV. I paid all fines within 3 months. I completed all state requirements to get my license back. DMV suspended my license in 2006 for 'failure to pay taxes' because I wasn't driving and didn't know I could lose my license again. I paid my taxes as soon as I learned about it.
However, it took me 3 years to pay my attorney. He filed a judgement against me after I was convicted. I worked my ### off and paid him for his "services". But, it still show's as "resolved" in 2009. Most of the companies I've applied to say it's a problem for their insurance company and have "wished me luck". GRRR. Infuriating and frustrating.
    ######, I wish I wasn't such a dumb kid when I was a kid.
I live in NC but can move to anywhere but Alaska or Hawaii within a month.

I worked for wanted out of the oil field. So I am new to this too no otr exp. otr has alwas been a dream for me to get out and drive but because of my past could never do it been sober over 5 years now and arrest is far enough behind me now I have gotten a chance, had a few companies to choose from did alot of research and Swift terminal is not far from me. Being new going to have to deal with the problems but I am sure you know being friends of Bill W. It has been alot worse for me God first and can get through anything. Good luck and keep up the great work.

Real quick before I forget, lol, you MAY NOT carry alcohol in your truck. At all. Ever. Not even under the bunk wrapped in foil with the lights off. The only time you may carry alcohol is when you're hauling it in your trailer. You can have no alcoholic beverage of any kind in the cab of the truck, doesn't matter where it is. If you are in possession of alcohol in a CMV, you are automatically put out of service. Just remember that when you think it's ok to bring a six pack for later.

Even if you have a fake bottle resembling a alcoholic beverage, it's the same consequences.
