mOST SCHOOLS WANT YOU TO GET YOUR DOT DONE BEFORE GOING TO THERE SCHOOL . THAT DOES MAKE SENCE GET IT DONE BEFORE YOU PUT UP THE THOSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR SCHOOL ,A DOT WILL COST YOU ABOUT 60 BUCKS. THEY CHECK EYES, EARS ,PEE, FOR DRUGS AND DIABITES, BLOOD PRESSURE AND IF THAT IS HIGH ITS A NO GO . I HEARD OF A COMPANY TAKING HAIR FOLICAL TEST FOR DRUGS. THEY CHECK YOUR JUNK OUT TOO.

We do have to get it done before we start class we can either have it done or they will do it there on the first day of class.

I've heard that diabetes is ok if you have the type that can be controlled with pills. If you have to take insulin on a regular basis you are out of luck.
As far as blood pressure is concerned, I believe that if you can get medication to get your blood pressure down, that is ok as well.
I think I'm correct on the two things above. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Regarding the "junk check", what would they check for? VD or something? -
Dot Physical Examination
Under Health History you will be asked several questions regarding your health. The first two questions form the sounds of it you will check Yes for "Any illness or injury in last 5 years" and "Head/Brain injuries, disorders or illnesses". The form gives you a space to answer any Yes answers to explain diagnosis, treating physician's name any curent limitation, list all medications.
The Medical Examiniers will fillout his/her comment on your Health History on the Examiners space.
You will take a Vision, Hearing, Blood Presure, Lab Urinalysis test. Then the Examinier will do a Physical examination:
General apperance, Eyes, Ears, Mouth and Throat, Heart, Lungs and chest, Abdomen, Vascular, Hernias, Extremities, Spine and Neurological.
If you pass the Examination you will get a Medical Examiners Certificate good for 3 months upto 2 years certificate.
The Examiner will tell you if you need to get a Medical waiver/exemption if you do not pass the examination.
You can check online Federal Motor Safety Regulations (49 CFRR391.41-391.49 for DOT physical standards.

Yes that is correct. The other check is looking for hernias and then the ole finger wave. -
If it were me I'd make sure that I listed every problem I had in the past that they ask you about. Don't try to cover or not list any past history and here's why. If you were to have an accident later on and it was serious and it ended up in court they could find your past history and charge you with some serious crimes. You'd be held liable even if it wasn't your fault.

I just got my physical last week. The only problem was with my blood pressure. The first go was above the limit, but I kind of psyched myself up for it too. So they took it at the end and it was good. They said that is normal for guys coming in for the DOT Physical. They also said to try and make future appointments in the morning, it's better for BP.
