I have the opportunity to acquire a 16 foot box truck. An International 4300. What are some things I can haul, pickup and deliver locally? Jobs that I can get by myself or with a broker. I apologize in advance if I'm in the wrong place or my questions are not worded correctly. Just exploring options. I've driven straight trucks before, just want to see if there's any room to start my own gig.

    Thanks very much for looking!

Go to auctions and see if people buying things need them moved.

If you watched the movie jackbutt (censored for TTR) you'd know you can have a roller skate disco party in one.....

Check some of the retail furniture and appliance stores and rentals. A 16 foot bed is rather small but you might be able to use it to move people to a new residence.

Thanks for the helpful replies. Would I be better of getting a larger truck, 20' or 24'? I live in Central Florida. I've read on her people are using cargo vans to work so I figured a larger straight truck could make money as well??

Go to the nearest Airport and see who is hauling out of there, your truck should be good for air freight.

Check to see if there's any local courier companies, many of those do LTL/local delivery with straight trucks also. Place I worked at ran everything from large STR8 trucks to smart cars. Just make sure what ever you get has a lift gate.

If you do end up doing moves for people and arrive 4 hours late while they are waiting on the sidewalk in the rain with all their possessions.

I'm sure they will tell you what you can do with your 16' straight truck.:biggrin_2558:
