Rick, if not mistaken, do they not need to also train with a Mentor to get on that account, especially a lot of chaining come winter.

I never get home when I want to, always days after. This time I had my home time set for the 6th and they sent me to Oregon to deliver tomorrow and then who knows if I will find a load going towards home in time.
I was really trying to get home to support my wife at her doctor visit since they found cancer and she is going for a follow up...

Decline loads wolfy. If it gets close to your hometime and they send a load you know you cant get home on time with decline it. They play dangle the carrot game . I was 200 miles from home in jackson tn and my home is east of there and they started sending loads to Denver and texas. They try and see if you will take it. But decline and reason put hometime. If they say they will get you home if you take the load tell them to back it up with another load getting you home and don't accept the load till you see the next plan. Stand your ground.

Well with swift as far as i know you just need 2-3 days of training to learn the different weights, not sure about gordon. unfortuantly for me I never got to drive in the snow with my mentor. So, I couldn't get the more expierience in chaining, I learned in school though. When it does snow and it being my first time being in it, it'll be interesting to say the least lol.

Just my personal answer. Other drivers might disagree but ask me if i give a ####? Rookies, especially those goin thru the company's training program hell no SWIFT is not a good company. So keep your expectations low or you'll be dissapointed. Now as far as training, awesome. I thank them for teaching me how to be a trucker. Especially the instructors down the Richmond academy, shout out to Mr.James, Craig, Mr. Joe and Mr. Vince. Those guys really dedicate themselves in makin a trucker out of somebody. Now experience drivers. I talked to several old timers out my home terminal, they definitely makin paper, more power to them. Just like others done said on this thread, is all about the dm you'll get or who kisses the most ###. My personal opinion...

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect that. I will ask you this though, those old timers you talked to that are making good paper, didn't they have to go through the same stuff a rookie does to get to where they can make the good paper? It all depends on what you put out and deal with, to be able to reap the rewards later on.

There are people at the chaining areas that install them for a fee.
You might consider paying to have it done in order the learn how to do it right.
