When ever I have to use lumber tarps I have fork lift pick them up and move them for me. even if it just to move them from the side of the truck I rolled them on over to the side that the box is on where I store them its not worth killing yourself with them stupid things, and most guys are always willing to help you out and move them for ya
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
well I guess I answered my own question. Had to do some roofing this weekend. I can still carry a bag of shingles up the ladder with no issues. (can't do two like the old days but hey we're all getting older right?" After 2 days of roofing I am feeling it though. LOL

I hear that!! I cut firewood all weekend

Flat bedding isn't as physical as people think it is. Tarping is a pain in the ### but really the big thing is moving them around. Once your body gets use to that it's a gravy train. Now... Local work unloading, THAT is physical work. Dropped 20lbs so far and gained some crazy muscles!

Sort of. Last Friday I got to untarp two lumbers and then fold/roll them up mid-afternoon in Fort Smith, AR on a blacktop parking lot with the ambient temp being 104 F. By the time I finished, my brain itself was turning into gravy. Looking forward to Fall temperatures!avenger79 and Skydivedavec Thank this.

Lumber tarping at logan sucks ### I would rather dig my own eyeballs out with a fork. Sunny day hot as heck I wanted to fall over dead after that.

you're just a constant ray of sunshine aren't you? LOL
always good to hear the realities and "crappy" parts as well as the good. -
Heh, I'm not aiming to discourage anyone; after all I'm still doing flatbedding and overall would not change for anything else. But as you allude to, I do want to present a balanced picture. It is very hard work at times and there's no sugarcoating that. There is a reason that flatbedders get more per mile than the other fleets.Skydivedavec Thanks this.

My favorite part is when the wind decides the load doesn't need a tarp and blows it off. Always fun to re roll the thing and then ask Mr Forklift to put t back on top of the 13' load for ya.
Skydivedavec Thanks this.
