Good quality recaps from a real tire company ( not from BUBBAS Tire and BAIT/ Bridal shop ) on good casings are not a problem , ran them for years and never lost a retread

You can get an " OLD TIRE " when buying supposedly brand new virgin tire as well , lot of warehouses miss the odd tire during rotating inventory so older stuff gets used up 1st.

Look at the D.O.T. number on the tire (there's one on each side, one partial and the other side has all the numbers) the last four are the dates it was made, first two numbers are the week and the last two are the year

schinder shop will fix most of the stuff you ask to get done before you pay for it.
I looked at one of their trucks a few days ago here in portland.
for the money they aint bad if you compare them to the new truck dealers or most the other ones.
keep in mind the schinder trucks have a direct drive trans (which is good) and 2;36 rear ends. (google some info on that) .
Also check if what your pulling is ok with fixed fifth wheel.
Most schinders midroofs are fixed fifth wheels.
and most of their trucks dont have suspension dumps.
they will clear the ecm for you and rest it to fatorcy settings.
I passed on their trucks after I found a 05 columbia condo, detriot 14L, 10 speed, full lockers, and moose bumper, for 20k. with 680k miles.
True the truck needs a detail (300$) and needs a clutch and a rear end seal (2000$). But the rest is straight and clean and dry motor.
so there are good deals out there, you just need to hunt them down.
schi truck was a close second for the miles. but motor was small and I pull heavy sometimes.

Recaps are crap. I lost more than 50 during hot summers in NM" AZ, west TX MO.. and other states.

Knock on wood when I got my trailer a couple of years ago it had some bad looking caps on it but they all held up. Never had a tread separate yet. I stay on top of air pressure. I replaced the worst ones as I could now have a matched set of virgins on the rear axle and matched Goodyear caps on the front axle. 2 of those were tire casings I had since New and had them capped. Goodyear makes a good cap that holds up well. I intend to cap my casings 2 or 3 times from here on out. The savings are substantial and well worth it. My virgin drives that I've had since new will also get capped. Take care of your tires and they will take care of you. Buying virgins every time for 16 wheels is money down the toilet.

Caps? really? I don't think so. I wear a cap on my head sometimes, never on my truck.

i will be working for P.judge and sons trucking out of the port they mostly haul beer and paper within 120miles from the Newark port. one more question for any former tanker yankers in this picture theres this thing that looks like a hose goes there but they took it out of the truck me what is that?
