^ Yep, I was very happy with my 660, a big step up from the 14 to 16 year old, KWs I drove at CDL school, so even the beater 600s on TransAm driving range in Olathe seemed nice. However, I did drive a T700 during training, the truck of my coach. I did notice and like the extra space, did not like the way the header extends over the dash, cracked my head on it more than once, lucky it is padded. Figure I will get used to that and stop banging my coconut on it after 5 or 6 more times (slow learner).

My first time through, I was just assigned one truck. This second time around, I will be processed through before the main body of first time drivers and I may have more than one truck to choose from. It would be a bigger deal if I was picking out a truck to lease, but as company driver, other than to use common sense and to act as a reasonable person, I am not responsible for the truck in the same way as a lease driver. I mean in the maintenance and up keep of the truck, shop time, PM, repairs and such are all on TransAm. The truck's MPG does not really matter to me other that what I can do driving under company policy.

Right now, if given a choice, I would like a light colored, to reflect the heat of the sun, T-700. Other than that, what do you guys think, are there some other factors I should keep in mind, some indicators I should look for, in the information I will have about the trucks, if I should get the chance to pick a truck?

I am a natural split sleeper provision driver. I usually sleep no more than 4 to 6 hours at one time, then like to take a nice 20 to 40 min. power nap sometime during the day. The split break works great for my natural clock.

I have mixed feelings about how elogs handle the split sleeper. E-logs handles it screwy compared to how I was taught to document a split break using a manual log at school. However, I recommend everyone always put themselves on "sleeper" status during their break. It will give you one more line of drive time, sooner, often it is a block of time that is useless the way e-logs handles it, but more choice in how to be flexible to get your job done is a good thing.

The one thing about doing a split sleeper when you have elogs is that it isn't questioned if someone should happen to inspect your logs. On paper logs it always made them look a little closer at what you had done.

That is something else .....place a tab in your manual on the instructions for you elogs. If you have an inspection and they have to wait for you to find the instructions they get a little impatient with you.

Ok I freakin rocked it out today. Went from the Olathe yard to Lowe's in Cheyenne, stopped for fuel in St Joseph, MO, dropped the trailer at Lowes, grabbed my empty and got to the TA for a 10 without violating my logs. Dispatch messaged me asking if. Was gonna take a break since my time was almost up. But it all worked out perfect. Now its shower time and then bed cause I gotta get to Schuyler ASAP! Im so stoked about my hometime this week.
