I DID ask about the cost of the other half. It's like $430, or there-abouts. Not ridiculously expensive, if you ask me.

Donner is my stompin' grounds, since I live in Reno. Wish I'd got/get $1 every time I've been over it. I'd have, like, $30!
Weeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info on the info on the insurance. Like I said, as soon as they started talking about the price I turned my ears off lol. And no, that's not too bad either, about $100/week.
And they've gotta little bit of smoke up your way huh? That stuff was starting to give me a headache. I thought I'd never see the day that I was excited to get to Sacramento. -
Delivered in Madras and then went back to the yard to move into my quad. Only has 99k on the clock, a 9 speed (8+LOW), and a brand new Reitnouer that hasn't been off the yard which means it came with brand new equipment. Got the run down as far as how everything works mechanically, as well as the paperwork and weight side of it. There's a little more to if than I anticipated, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. After all this, and moving all my stuff over, I picked up in Gilchrist with a stop in Portland and Vancouver. I was told we don't do many multi stops and wouldn't you know I got one. Grossed out at 101,980 lb with a little over a quarter tank. Also took a little getting used to the sliding winches on this thing not to screw myself short somewhere since this load is 5 high.
Already think I'm gonna like my dispatcher. I'll deliver Monday and I knew I was going to Canada after so I called and asked where to. She responded with how does Saskatchewan work? Works for me.
And yes, pictures will be up this week, just wanna get her through a Streakin' Beacon first. Have a great weekend.GR8, The Challenger and jomar68 Thank this. -
congrats on the quad. cant wait for the pics and more updates. have you talked to many otr drivers yet, and their thoughts of COTC?
Weeble Kneeble and KF7WTV Thank this. -
Don't go to the streakin Beacon at Jubitz or you might have to spend the night there since you will run out of hours. The last couple times I tried I gave up after seeing the line. If you go North on I-5 try the one at exit 88 in Chehalis, WA.Weeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
Thanks for the heads up. Now that you mention it there always was at least a little bit of a line every time I've been there. I figure I'll try to get it washed on the way to Saskatchewan since I'll have a little bit of time to spare.

Thank you kindly. I've talked to a few, and all of them seem happy. A guy I went through orientation with has been running 3k a week, but hasn't been home yet.
From what I can see, if you don't mind tarping a bit, you will like it and do very well here. -
Pasco, WA for the night. Delivered my two drops this morning and then picked up in Gresham going to Regina, SK for Thursday morning. I'm gonna see if I can get it kicked off Wednesday afternoon. Took a little longer than expected to get loaded because it wasn't supposed to load until tomorrow, but it's back there now. Had to smoke tarp it but still get paid for a full tarp. Already got a message that I'm clear to cross the border at Kingsgate tomorrow.
Pictures might have to be of a dirty truck because I don't know of any Beacons on the way.QuietStorm and jomar68 Thank this. -
Well I'm home for a reset. Great week this week, still managed to put down 2800 miles. Made my delivery a day early in Regina and then was deadheaded up to Meadow Lake, SK. Ran into another quad driver and we talked for about an hour or so about the company and how it is on the quad fleet, and more importantly, how to make some coin. In return, I helped him tarp his load. Found out that my trailer loads heavy to the back end so after I loaded, I scaled and had to have to entire load moved forward a foot. It's good to know now what my gauge should be reading to scale legal.
From Meadow Lake I delivered in Spokane, which was supposed to deliver to a jobsite in Pullman, WA, but they didn't have room when I called and asked if they could take me early. My dispatcher worked this out with the customer because if this didn't happen, I would have been sitting in Spokane all weekend. Very pleased with this, all it took was communication by all parties.
From Spokane, I boogied up to Laclede, ID to get loaded for Madras, OR that delivers Monday morning. From there, I'll head to the yard where my truck is due for an oil change. So far, so good.Last edited: Sep 15, 2013
