supposedly the $0.60 is to the truck. the driver driving gets $0.50 and the driver in the bunk gets $0.10 just for being on the truck. How they determine who drove what miles is beyond me because they have a hard time keeping up with the miles that a solo driver runs. So much for the milk, the other driver was spot on. And milk isn't on a truck for more then two days. Well atleast i've never had milk in a tank for more then two days. Cream is another story, but cream has been heated and pasturized which reduces the amount of bacteria in it. The bacteria grows so it's still time sensitive, just not as sensitive as raw milk.
What happens when milk is in a tank too long, or some how got loaded on a bad tank, well if it gets rejected at it's original customer (usually because of policy) then it get rerouted to a plant that makes cheese, or powdered milk/cheese. Those plants usually have more relaxed policies (like it only has to pass bacteria test) compared to a regular dairy plant. I've been sent to a plant that rejected a load for a high bacteria count, and had to take it to another plant, they took the load because it met their standards.. it all works out in the end. USUALLY...jlind Thanks this. -
Does Indian River have refrigerators in the trucks? No sense dragging my cooler up to Turlock if there is--

After reading this entire thread, I applied and have been offered employment with Indian River. Orientation is next Tuesday 09/24. I am hoping to get in and out of there so I can start making some money! I figure I should be able to make a decent income while gaining tanker experience. Anyway, maybe I will see you guys out there soon!

Like Mitchtazz said we don't keep milk(specially raw milk) in the tanks too long, usually milk is delivered the same day it's picked up or the next day. Also those cheese plants take just about any milk. One time I made a mistake and didn't realized that my seals didn't exactly match the numbers on the paperwork(missing one digit on bills) and I was routed to Uniontown, Al from Winter Haven to deliver in the cheese plant there. I took the load from Valdosta to Winter Haven to Uniontown(paid for all miles of course) then deadheaded to Orlando. I miss going to that place.
@FSU My name is Alex and I am in truck 10013d o g Thanks this. -
So, I have a quick question or two. I am completely broke since I have been out of work for 3 months, and wanted to know what the advance policy is. I will need this for food and such for the first couple of weeks until I get my first paycheck. Do these guys hold one check? I plan on being out for 2 months at a time or so, as I have nothing left for me at home, so money should be rolling in even at .35cpm, one, because I roll hard, and two, because the paper logs will make it easy to find driving time
While I am still a newbie in the industry, it does not take scientific calculations to make the logs look good! Also, does the on board GPS avoid tolls if you set it up that way? Thanks in advance!

You can get an advance for tolls no problem driver.
Some will say they don't bother..YOU should bother!
Run on the companies money not yours.
You will sit a lot..a whole lot.
But if you read the threads and want to give it a shot..Good luck to you.FSU Thanks this.
