This company is terrible to work for if you are an OO. First, you need to have your own authority which cost a lot of money. You cannot lease on with JB Hunt. Also after paying all this money to get your authority and all the insurance coverage you think you are going to get a good or reasonable rate per mile. Forget it - JB Hunt will screw you. They say you average $1.73 per mile - forget it. Secondly, they will not answer the phone if your dispatcher is not there. You will be lucky if someone to pick up during the day. And at night or on the weekend - it is terrible back office support. After you pick up a load you have to call in so that you can get money for fuel. One Saturday morning I had to wait three hours - three hours - before someone picked up. And then the attitude towards the OO is disrespectful like you are a pain in the rear.

STAY AWAY FROM JB HUNT. THERE IS ONLY ONE WINNER - JB HUNT. You get no cost break on fuel, tires, maintenance, insurance. Everything comes out of your pocket.

Your own auth is only like 1500 bucks? Why not do that and rent a trailer find your own loads.

Is the reason you are hauling for JB Hunt because when you say you need fuel money up front they are the only ones who will give it to you? How difficult would it be if you had enough cash already to run the load from start to finish, then also be able to continue working until the average customer coughs up in 30 days or so? I would bet it is a cash flow reason why other brokers won't/do not want to load you when you need up front fuel money. Just sayin'.

JB does allow you to lease on under their authority. If you have your own or it was required of you its because you are a drayage company pulling JB Hunt loads.I am leased on pulling containers and I have no issues at all.Paid ontime always someone to answer my call (and I run nights).I get a decent discount on fuel usually between .20 and .22 a gallon.I get great discounts on tires and parts. You sir are not an OO for JB you are an outside carrier that JB uses to haul some loads.
