this is a dumb post. someone complianing about businesses not having a rest haven for out of hours drivers. it's not there responsibility to make sure that the driver has hours to operate the truck after loading. they're also not responsible for having a place for drivers needing a place to park when out of hours. and when you complain to them about being out of hours at there dock. they have no idea how many hours you worked before showing up to get the load. so they don't know how many hours you have left. so the load that the driver is picking up. may not be ready by the time they get there. which is pretty much normal now a days. most manufatures are only making enough procduct for the orders. and then stopping production. it's an effort to cut cost in labor and raw material. so most of the time. half the order is finished and ready to ship before the truck shows up. and then they finish the order after the truck is there. other times when drivers experience long wait times. it's a shortage of labor in the warehouse.

The HOS rules we have to follow came about from someone complaining or feeling unheard. And the last thing I want is another rule.
Is this 'safe haven' issue happening a lot for you?
If it is, as you appear to be a new driver, if this is happening often then I think you should start with your DM. Have you tried that? See if you can work it out without a new rule request. -
Log the wait time as sleeper berth, unless you are paid detention for waiting.
That way you don't run out of hours. -

2/8 split for sleeper is all that is available. And if you only have 2 in the bunk it does not stop your clock.
So if I show up at a receiver or shipper with an 8a.m. appointment time, and have 6 hours left on my clock, and don't get a dock door till 2 P.M. I don't have a reason to #####? What you're doing is making excuses for the shippers and receivers. They chew me out and dock my pay if I'm late. If I have to be on time why don't they have to be on time? Do you see how totally backwards that is? Shortage in the warehouse don't want to waste material etc etc. Okay fine, I had a traffic jams for 4 hours because of a wreck, do they care nope, they're going to still say I was late. Construction zones slowed me down all day do they care no should've taken a different route that was faster but more miles and actually pays me less per mile. See what I'm getting at. Sure dock me all you want for being late, but they'll complain about being charged detention. Yea that's real great. I understand life isn't fair and #### happens but let's think about this a little bit. If you're alright with getting g screwed all the time more power to you. Yu absolutely have the right to #####, because you just KNOW that if you were 10 minutes late to their so called "appointment" they'd chew you out for half an hour over it. The whole thing is stupid, unfair, and ridiculous. But unfortunately that's how everything is anymore.
One of our drivers decided to stand his ground and told Walmart that he was NOT violating a federal law by driving when they ran his clock out. In turn, Walmart called Maverick and threatened to ban every Maverick truck from every Walmart facility. They are our second largest customer.
Guess who won that argument?
The customer is NOT always right. But, in general, they always win, since they are the ones with the money.379exhd Thanks this. -
