I dont mind the 30 min break I usually shower so this is great I can get in when the showers are less busy. The problem I have is the two periods from 1a to 5a for the restart and 168 hrs between. Say I get in a 6a Friday morning and my 168 hour doesnt come up until say midnight for example thats 18 hrs lost when I could be 18hrs on my restart and ready to roll in 16 but no I can't roll until 5a Sunday making my 34 actually a 47hr restart and also if I am waiting on a load for a couple days why cant I restart to give me a fresh 70 hrs like before this is causing me to lose money in the long run figure I can drive 550 miles in that extra 13 that I lost to do a restart equaling
176 for CO to 1100 for O/O. That lost revenue is being placed on consumers someone has to eat the cost

It's a lot like those Red Light cameras that were supposed to make intersections safer and led to an increase in rear end accidents instead.

Who of those signed the letter are on any of the transportation committees?

If you want some action, it is in these committees who approve or disapprove a lot of things for these agencies and it is these committees who are supposed to be the oversight of these regulations.

I wrote a letter to my congressmen tell me what you think.

Congressmen Runyan on 8/29/13 51 members of the house wrote a letter to the Secretary of Transportation. In this letter to Secretary Anthony Foxx the issues of a truck drivers hours of service were called into question. As a truck driver from NJ who is deeply impacted by this new rule I find it hard to believe that the proper required studies were not completed before the final rule was put into place. Something in this area of the industry needs to be done. These new hours are effecting my time with family and pay. There are many examples but not enough time in the day. Thank you for your time. It was more like an email. They have a good system for writing to your congressmen.
