I was looking for some advice as I read a post that oneaday had posted about his new Pete 389 blue with ISX 15 550 2050.

Was at the Pete dealer today and he informed me that the MX13 500 1850 will be a more reliable engine along with better fuel mileage.

Would like to know how oneaday is making out with his.

    Thanks

Isx will outpull mx handsdown as far as reliable my 2010 pete runs everyday only problem I've had in 3 plus years was the egr cooler and valve but never left me brokedown btw the mx is a paccar motor so of course he's gonna tell you how great that motor is.

Thanks for the information, as the Pete sales rep was going to sell me a ISX 550 until I asked about the MX and a carrier out of Saskatchewan that had problems with the ISX. Would you use the Ultra Shift Plus to run into BC ? I am going to go and see the KW dealer tomorrow to take a look at the t680 with the MX 500 1850. He is telling me that this MX engine will achieve 6-7 mpg. I always say mpg is in proportion to how you drive?

We will use them all over including off road and pulling up to 13 axle lowbeds.

I guess they used to get the job done with allot less HP than we have at our disposal today.

Don't hold your breath. We have 7 of those paccars. 2 needed the top redone under warranty under 50k with valve guides coming apart and filling the cylinder and oil with shavings.

The others are gutless ######. They fall on their face at 1400 rpm and road gears are similar to the old Mercedes step on it and wait engines in western stars. They are running 4.83 gearing compared to 4.11 in the cummins tri's we have and still have trouble crawling down wet gravel roads above 5th gear.

We went back to cummins for this years trucks and everyone is happier. Drivers like the engine better, mechanics, well at least they have allot of practice on them now!

We took delivery last year, first one was in feb last 2 came from pdi and setup in Regina around august or September. I don't know if they gauge the year like cars but if they do then all 7 are 2012's.

This year we have 4 trucks so far, all are cummins 485 hp and pull far harder especially in 7 & 8th gear. Scuttlebutt was that the paccars were a Mullen idea and others had even worse luck on bigger orders than our 2 that committed seppuku. Anyhow warranty re-engined both ours but they are still very unpopular trucks compared to our 2010 cummins tri's. those 2010 trucks are finally running proper for the most part. Just have about 1 week of emmisions and engine code downtime a month instead of the two weeks they used to have ;)

Was at KW yesterday, the mechanic told me the problem with the MX engine is when the PTO is running it will not do a regen as it is in the softwear, were as the ISX will. It is a softwear problem that MX has and they will work on addressing it. You would think Paccar would do the softwear update sooner than later.
