Thanks DoneYourWay for the link to http://www.bigrigdogs.com ! This was just the kind of resource I was looking for. Me and my wife are thinking about taking our 2 10~ pounds rat terriers with us, but were worried which company to go with and where we could stop in a hotel if we ever needed to. A really great site for these needs! Appreciate the heads up on it!

you bet, as i research these truck companies one by one i noticed their list is not exhaustive nor up to date probably because it is based on voluntary contributions by its members, so don't lose hope, when the time comes to hire on somewhere you can probably work it out with them for at least one of your little dogs, get creative and don't leave either of them behind!

i was originally looking at only the truck companies that have a rider program/accept pets in the cab, but i think i am going to remain open to other companies and try to negotiate, the pros will correct me if wrong, my research tells me being a team is already an advantage so you guys are in great shape there, my selling point is i want the 30-45+ days out

check out Old Dominion Freight Lines, now hiring long haul drivers but will only take teams or 12 months OTR experience, so if you are already matched up you present better for the hire than someone like me who does not want to team/does not have a partner

my dog is a min pin, similar breed to yours--they do better in pairs, so i would take Chinatown's and others' advice re two dogs: don't ask, don't tell! especially with the little ones, they are not as hard on the interiors as the bigger breeds, there are two of you to control things, no need to make a big deal out of it just for the sake of the company's insurance, if something is damaged just fix it at your expense, my little ones don't even shed!

How in the world do you have that many creatures piled into one truck? That had to be chaos.

Thanks again for the info DoneYourWay! I should specify that my wife and I are looking for a change at a small "regional" company that I'm working for now. She doesn't drive and I'm *pretty* sure that I won't get her to team with me anytime soon. We are looking for a change of scenery and locales and thinking of going with a company OTR for a couple years and seeing if I could find work in a bigger city or location down the line. She would be riding with me and we want to take our two munchkins with us. Looking deeper into each company, it seems like the best idea is the "Don't Ask/Don't Tell" scenario for both of them and find a good company with a pet policy and rider program. Thanks again and good luck yourself!
