well i got off the phone with oodia today. they purity much told me that cuz i dont have 2 years experince and since im not 23 that its gunna be impossible for me to get my own dot number and insurance. so it looks like another year of being a company flatbed driver but it aint that big of a deal since now it gives me more time to fix up my 94 frieghtliner thats back at the house. Now onto the question....what all do i need to watch out for and do so my truck dosent get messed up while it sits? im gone all week long and the most ima be driving the truck is about a mile down the road and back once a week. Remove the batteries and either put them on a truckle charger or sell them.
I would try to keep the truck indoors and away from mice. Those little buggers can cause a bunch of damage.jmarsh91 Thanks this. -
If you can drive it once or twice a month just to keep everything freed up that would help. A trickle charger connected to the batteries would be fine. Like mentioned above, keep the mice out of it for sure! Keep it greased.

Oodia gave you wrong information. Go to your local motor vehicle of commission. And call insurance companies up to get a quote.

He can get his own insurance and authority, but at what expense. The insurance on a new carrier with a driver with 10 years Over The Road experience is ridiculous. I'd hate to see what it would be for someone with less than 3 years Over The Road driving experience starting on his own authority. I would bet the premium would be so high that the chances of making a living are slim to none while at the same time trying to build a relationship with brokers and customers that will keep the truck busy.

yeah i bought a trickle charger a cupple weeks ago its one ment for a car but it will still work for my rig right? and ima try to drive it atleast a mile a week

they said there would be a cuple of inssurince companys but it would have to be a million doller policie and i wouldnt be able to get my own authority....witch i dont wanna do over the road in my rig i just wanna do local hauling

I wouldn't drive it only a mile a week. You'll get the oil hot without evaporating the condensation out of it. Then you're going to shut it off which will collect more condensation. I would leave it be. Maybe start it once a month and let it sit on high idle for a hour or two.....or just sell it and save up money for a newer truck. One year turns into two then turns into three.......1988mustangfan Thanks this.
