If your truck is paid for? I would be tempted to repair it and either run it into the ground or at least make it pay for the repairs. If you buy or lease another your monthly expenses will rise including Insurance.

It will also have to have and pass a DOT inspection!

Please give us the name of the inspector, badge number, and cost of this I would like to know what size bill I need behind my drivers licence:biggrin_2559:

On a serious note. I'd say keep the truck, fix it, if you have to have the SOB totaled out and buy it back. Yea it'll have a salvage title, but run the darn thing into the ground when she finally gives out strip the motor, trans, and rears, run the body across the scale at a scrap yard, and sell what's left. That would be my suggestion. No sense in buying a commie legal truck until you absolutely have to.

Good luck with your back by the way hope it gets to feeling better soon and you're alright.

I would say keep it. At least you know what you have mechanically anything used is a crap shoot. Sounds like it was doing pretty good.

I would have one concern and that is the engine with 1.5 million miles on it unless you have gone through the engine. You didn't mention the type of truck. But, you apparently like the truck and it has served you well. One question would be whether you really need to run California? Cascadia's are supposed to do well with fuel economy. I have a friend who drove one for about 1 1/2 years and he had a few electrical problems, but liked the truck. If your truck is paid off you will be making monthly payments for the next several years, should you decide to go with the Cascadia. You could rebuild the entire drive train for less than 1/2 of what it would cost to buy the Cascadia and not have the monthly payments. Personally, I prefer the older trucks. There are fewer problems and they are more reliable. Repairs are also less expensive.

id say fix it unless you have other issues with the truck. 6k really isn't much money when it comes to trucking. if you buy another used truck its a crap shoot what your gonna get you could buy another truck only to have a lot more than 6k in repairs in your first few months.
