Like I said new is new. USExpress at .38cpm with 2600 mpw is good for a new driver.
Better pay goes to experienced drivers, as it should. It's not that you're not worth it but you're going to prove it for 6 to 12 months.

If you have 3 months experience or fresh schooling , I would talk to TMC. They are great about working with veterans and look to pay very well. Melton looks pretty decent as well.
-
Look into TMC.. they also have a OJT program for vets

TMC could very likely be your best company to start off with. Flatbedding can be a pain tho, lots of strapping and tarping. I can't imagine it would seem to bad for someone fresh out of the army tho.
Watch out with what US X claims their solo rates are. Talk to someone online or email one of them, ask for their pay chart. 38 CPM is what you get per mile for loads under 100 miles or so. It's a sliding pay scale. You can do better most likely, but they're not the worst.
I'd suggest, as a student that's also been looking into this
TMC
Melton
System Trans
Crete/Shaffer
Just a couple that I thought were pretty good.Saylor91 Thanks this. -
What companies offer 7 on 7 off? Or something similar?

I'm headed to roehl this Saturday for orientation. 35 cpm for flatbed. I spoke with usxpress and the pay (I was told ) was 30 cpm or 31cpm with hazmat. Tmc jerked me around for almost 2 months so I accepted the roehl offer. Also spoke with maverick, and loved what they had to say but I'd be away from home for a very long time. I understand that I won't be home much but mavericks training and orientation was a little ridiculous.
fr8te_sh8ker and Saylor91 Thank this. -
I forgot, roehl also has van and reefer. I think van was 29 cpm and reefer was 32 cpm. At 3 months solo driving, you get a $0.02 raise and after 6 months solo another $0.02. Thier orientation is 8 days and driver training is 13 days. They seem to turn you loose quickly which is good for me cause I'm broke. Lol. I'm not telling you that they're the best, just seem like they're the best for me. Good luck brother. See ya on the road! (You do need hazmat and pass card to work there)
Saylor91 Thanks this.
