However, Hazmat will sometimes get you a load out when others will be sitting because they don't have the endorsements. There is extra pay for HM loads, $50 or something for company drivers. At least that's what it was 14 months ago. Since then, they've had to pay raises to company drivers, so...double check.

Enforcement of that is up to the states currently. IIRC, Texas (figures) will already ticket you if you're pulling a sufficiently large liquid tote without a tanker endorsement.

Tankers and flats get a bit higher base rate... you'd need to ask those guys or recruiting for a number

    JBinSD Thanks this.

Foolish question: If you don't have refer, do they get you qualified or do you need your State to approve you?

I am a recruiter at a truck driving school. I drove for a refer company a few years ago. I have had many students ask me which company is the best to go to work for. We have about 20-30 companies that actively recruit from us and I would say that Prime is by far the best choice, so much that I submitted an application. I was accepted yesterday. I should be leaving for Springfield sometime next week! I have to do 30k miles as a B2. Can't wait to get back on the road! Thanks for the great thread Jimmy. As a Navy Submariner, hope to meet you soon!

Prime does have the apprenticeship program. They will help you with the paperwork when you get there. The VA is backlogged right now with requests so it may take some time to kick in. Once it does you will get it retro back to your first day.

They are military friendly. They will make sure you make it home for your drill weekend.

I guess I will have to apply in a couple of months as I close out business down here (Georgia).

Jimmy, your thread has been great and when I do, I'll list you as the referral.

You've done an outstanding job giving real and useful information to a lot of guys that just have been taking a chance on a company. I drove for US Xpress, They were ok and I passed a lot of Prime trucks :) going down the highways. I had no idea how good they were taken care of. I can't bad mouth USXpress, they are better than a ton of them out there for new drivers.
