i will NOT run illegal-they keep giving me 100 mi trips with 12 hrs between p/u & del then like another 12 hrs+ b4 next pick up-over 1/2 are broker loads but its like they dont have any regular customers, talking to other co drivers who have been there 4-12 years-they are sick of having to run illegal for them but are getting more miles
-
That's the same song and dance I heard when I got to my new company, a switch to elogs had a short term effect on drivers miles and now they're back to pre elog numbers per driver, with about 125 more drivers in the fleet. Nothing has changed, planners (for the most part) don't know or care about hours of service, dispatchers still aren't aware of the regulations, however compliance has improved as well as on time service. Running illegal is 9 times out of 10 based upon poor trip planning on the drivers part.

It just sounds like some drivers are just not cut out for this business
joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Hm. What's strange about this whole thing is, 4 years ago I sent put an application in there bc I lived only 30 min away. But I remember them telling me, and more than once, that nothing will get you fired from that company faster than falsifying a log book. That's the owners biggest pet peeve. I was told this to my face actually. Not saying people don't do it there, but with as much emphasis as they put on that point that day, I highly doubt they are "forcing" you to run illegal.
-
well in a meeting with safety person yesterday-he says" you need to be more creative with your logs"-now what does that mean to you? and thats the main reason i signed on with them-bc i live 20 minutes from there
-
By creative he could mean split breaking. Doesn't HAVE to mean illegal.
-
have been split breaking

Plus my experience was 4 years ago. Lots can change in 4 years. I I just knew I HAD to get away from PTS, or piqua transfer. Ended up going to work for Continental Express for a couple years after PTS.

I already knew better than to sign on with either one of those co's.who do you drive for now?
