I have found that since I retired I make about 66% of what I did when I was working, but taxes are different, so I keep 75% of what I did when I was working, and since I don't have to buy a new vehicle every 4 years, I have a whole lot less expenses than I did when I was working. What a person makes is relative. If he or she has less going out, he or she has more real income. When I was working I knew a lot of guys that worked as many hours as they could, and while they were working those hours, they had to pay someone to cut their grass, take care of minor repairs and painting etc., and take care of their ole lady while they were away. *( They didn't really pay for the last part, but then, they had to feed Jody and keep him in beer.) So it aint what you make, it's what you keep.
