What is the interview/selection process like for trucking jobs?

For me so far its been 1 phone interview going over work history company history etc 45min
1st in person interview was 2 hours
2nd in person interview was 1.5 hours waiting on the the call back today been about a 3 week process so far

 

I answered this question in the other thread you and I are interacting on. Our process is lengthy at the moment - taking 6 weeks to get someone through.

 

It really depends on the company..some will want you to interview only , then go straight to drug testing and back-ground check , once you pass all those , then you'll have to pass a road/skills test. Some companies are even having you do a kind of physical abilities test..you know , the kind where you show that you know the proper lifting technique, and are you able to lift their minimum required for the job.

 

The next thing you know there going want these drivers to actually know how to drive these trucks!! Lol

 

Reality.....What a concept..............................

 

After the interview process, we road test our top candidates prior to making the job offer, which is contingent on passing drug screen/physical/background + MVR checks.

 

Does the guy that's giving the road test have a CDL????? Lol
