Im asking about the school in Anaheim, CA. Did you attend? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I know they have other satellite locations but Im looking specifically at the Anaheim campus.

I came through their 29 Palms campus and am very happy with them. The difference between people from other schools and us at the DMV was astounding. Others had a hard time even with straightline backing...

Good to hear. I am checking at the Anaheim location this Wed.

I visited the school today. The program is 240 hours over 6 week, 8-4:30, Mon-Fri. All endorsements. What I liked is that their Advisory Board is comprised of SNI, Swfit, FedEx, to name a few. Their program is based on the Advisory Boards input. I see that as a great benefit. They claim to have a 93% placement, and said they place a lot of students with SNI, and Swift. Their driving yard is pretty small. While I was there students were practicing backing up. What I find somewhat interesting is their cost is less than some schools charging more for less hours. Their program includes all the basics for on/off road training.

After a short stint OTR, I'm working as an instructor at the school. Program has changed a little, gotten a little stricter, but for the better.

Darky,
Congrats on the instructor job. Just curious, as someone that will be hiring some of those that you train....are your classes full? Have you seen any slowdown in interest by drivers to get their CDL?
Thanks -
We've had a slight slow down, but not outside the realm of our normal fluctuations. Almost all of the students at my campus are Marines transitioning out of the Corps.
Downhill Thanks this. -
Marines...interesting. As a group, do you find their military experience makes them better students than the average CDL candidate? I'm sure some of the Marines (or many?) come with truck driving skills - but I'm more interested in them as potential employees and possibly supervisors.
-
Young Marines make good students because they're used to being lower on the totem pole. Higher ranking guys, it's more hit and miss. Some of them pick up the driving quickly, others are slower. We actually have the best luck with guys who have no experience with military trucks. High ranking guys make for good supervisors overall because they already have leadership experience and are used to having to make decisions.
What company do you work for?Downhill Thanks this.
