Has anyone heard of Delta Diesel LLC? They buy and sell equipment; sell on consignment as well. I received an email from the owner and talked to him about my equipment and selling them on consignment. He gave me an example of say I want $20K for a rig, they market it for $25k take $5k consignment fee and I receive $20K. I have never bought or sold on consignment so I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has experienced going on the consignment route. :biggrin_25514:

don't know them but consignment can work good if they have a customer base. Only thing I would want to know is if they still want there fee if you were to sell it yourself while under agreement with them

I have a friend that did consignment for motocycles at his (SMALL)shop. I read his consignment contract and the best advise I can give you is to be sure you are very clear as to the specifics of the sale. Generally he did it by percentage. A top and bottom dollar acceptable amount was established (I want xxx but I'l take xxx) and a set percentage NOT a dollar amount. While this also reduced his commision if the unit sold for less the costomer was more acceptable to both parties taking a loss rather than just the seller, which gave him more consignments.
Of course he did it this way to bring in more customers for parts and new purchases figuring that the more he had on his lot, the more stop in to brouse, the more they tell thier friends........so on and so forth..... Also the percentage went up after a set amount of time if the unit did not sell before xx days/wks or whatever was agreed upon.

Thanks for the responses so far. I have an offer for the Pete lower than what I wanted but the offer actually is in-line with the average price on the Truck Paper.:biggrin_255:

The guy saw the price in the Truck Paper and thought I was way off. I have seen some 379's for around my asking price. But that being said I always start off high and I can work down. As long as I get around $100K total for my equipment, I'll be able to keep the mortgage for the new Pete under $2k a month, buy a trailer for cash, buy all of my tarps, chains, straps, binders ect...

The dealer quoted way low because he thought the CARB issue and the fact there's 1.6 million miles with a rebuild would be a hard sell. I would think that the tractor and the end dump would be great for a driver in Texas or Georgia. I hear that both states are better off than CA construction wise.

even in CA you can still do enough work in 5 years to wear out a truck
