Whats your long hood truck getting for fuel mileage? What are you running for a truck and powertrain? Ive recently been hitting over 7mpg with my 2000 Freightliner classic and tri-pac apu. Just curious what other people are getting.

My second quarter IFTA report came up 7.21mpg. It is 1998 379 long hood with 3406e in it. I run WalMart dedicated in WA,OR,ID and MT. No APU on this truck.

Not bad at all. Its a good feeling when your long hood can get better fuel mileage than some of the aero trucks. I also run a 3406E.

Running 65 with my 2000 379 550 I easily got 7. I had 3.70 with 22.5lp and 65 was 1525. I always wondered what I could have done if the rpms were about 1350-1400.

My company truck before o/o: 2003 w900L with 6nz cat. 6.5 mpg every day of the week as long as you kept turbo boost below 10 psi as much as you could.
Previous truck (first o/o): 2009 w900L with SDP (dpf) cat. 5, 5.5 on a good day. Tons of problems. Will stay away from the brand if they enter the engine market again.
Current truck: 2000 FL Classic, Detroit 12.7. 6.5 all day long. Doesn't have the power the cat has but it is steady and predictable.
All 3 trucks pulling reefers at 75-80k. Ontario Canada to NY/NJ/PA mostly. No APU on any of the trucks. Webasto bunk heaters on all. Idle time the same for each truck.
